Question about Disney Blu-rays and slipcovers

Post by Philo & Gunge »

I was planning on upgrading a lot of my Disney and Pixar animated titles to Blu-rays [and in some cases, Blu-ray 3Ds] soon. I can easily use Amazon for that. But I've had a small problem with Amazon in the past: a lack of slipcovers on certain titles. I've purchased some older Blu-rays recently (Iron Man 2 and The Dark Knight) and was disappointed, but didn't expect them, to have slipcovers. However with Disney, I've had a little more luck. I purchased a combo pack of A Bug's Life over a year and a half after it came out and it not only had a slipcover, but also had the original cover art. I also purchased the 3D Blu-rays of the Toy Story movies the summer after those came out and those still had their slipcovers. Which begs my question: How reliable is Disney with Blu-ray slipcovers when I ordered from Amazon? If I ordered a Blu-ray that came out, say, two years ago, would I get lucky with that?
Micheal Eisner was counting his money and he got DIZZNEY!

I always ask Amazon if the dvds/blu-rays I want still come with a slipcover before I place an order. They usually give me an answer within 3 days.

So far, I have been very lucky. And Amazon's customer service is excellent.

Somewhere buried in the Disney Discussion is a thread about Slip Covers though I'm not sure I could find it. I know of one person who could probably find it and that would be Sotiris.

One member said that slip covers were like DVD Condoms. That Still Cracks me up laughing

Wasn't that Escapay? :D

Well, I started seriously collecting the dvds (and now blu-rays) in 2010 and ordered a bunch of them at once. When they all arrived WITH a slipcover, I just decided to stick to that. It's been a strange obsession ever since. I even went as far as sending an order back and asking for a replacement because the slipcovers had tiny dents or marks! I was appaled by myself and decided to not get so loony over a slipcover after that incident...therapy has been helping as well... 8)

I keep all my Disney movies together and it would just seem weird and out of place if one of them did not have a slipcover. The only ones without a slipcover are Snow White: Platinum and the collector editions of Tarzan, Dinosaur, Emperor's New Groove and Atlantis. Ah well...life is never easy, right...

Yep it sure was. He allowed me to use his old signature. I miss him on here, but I'm still in contact with him on facebook. Every time someone would start a new slipcover thread, we would joke that CJ or someone is giving CPR to Escapay due to yet another slipcover thread
