29 Dead in elemantary school Shooting in CT

Post by disneyboy20022 »

This is tragic

A heavily armed gunman killed 26 people, including 20 children from 5 to 10 years old, in a rampage at a Connecticut elementary school on Friday, one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.

This is so disgusting. At least 20 were children. Poor babies were probably all excited for winter vacation.

20 of the 27 victims were children. Apparently, the shooter had a son in the school and his mother was a former Kindergarten teacher who had been fired (she was also killed, as was his father, at the home residence; one of his brothers is also dead). The principal and a school psychologist were also killed, among the adults. Apparently, many of the children that were shot were in the Kindergarten class his mother taught before being fired--so around 6 years old.

I've read that Adam Lanza (the shooter) was developmentally disabled (autistic, I believe, with a personality disorder--not sure if that's true). Don't know the details.

How could the mother still teach at a Kindergarten class if she was fired? Or are you meaning "been shot"?

The way you word it seems like she got fired from her job.

Sorry about that. She was fired, so I'm guessing it happened somewhere else before the shooting at the school took place. :? I wonder if we'll learn what was going on with that family. It's just too bad it had to extend to the school. :(

This is indeed a terrible tragedy. I feel we have had enough shootings this year (There was that Mall shooting not too long ago and that Movie Theater shooting in Colorado back in July as examples). This just sickens me that people can get away with this. I also hate how the media always has to blame video games and movies as the cause (that's just me, though).

I have not seen the media being blamed for this much. I've seen guns and mental illness be to blame. Also apparently the mother was a doomsday prepper. She was stockpiling weapons and ammunition and took her son out to teach him how to shoot. She seemed to have a very tight, albeit unnatural grip over her son as well. From the reports thus far, I think she turned him into a paranoid nutter with her doomsday stuff and control issues.

I am not against ownership of guns. I have my own. I also taught my teenager how to safely handle and shoot them. There is a thick line between being a normal everyday gun owner and a nutter gun owner who pushes the conspiracy theories/doomsday prepping/Obama is the Antichrist, too far.

I agree. The same video games are released in most parts of the world, and in some, more violent games are available at younger ages. The U.S. is still the country with the highest gun violence, so it's just a scapegoat to avoid facing real issues.

somebody's going around NPR saying he was an aspie. I admit it'd be much easier for me to understand motives if he were. All the problems in the world, and then a kid on top of that(they're not preaching that in the news, so that's news to me if it's true)..........

I've been hearing that he was an Aspie as well. My dad has it and has been getting questions about it and if this is a normal thing for people with Aspgerers. Seriously someone actually asked him that....I also have Asperger as does my fiancée so my mom has it by default

My dad responded that it's not since most Aspie's avoid confrontation and sometimes say yes to something just to get out of an uncomfortable situation even if that means agreeing to something you disagree with.

Also Asperger's is not a cookie cutter diagnosis.

My fiancée considers it a curse, though I tell her that if she lets it be a curse then it is. Instead you can use it for good and to help others with her gifts and apply them to every day life.

I learned that long ago I can either let it rule me, or I can rule it, which I chose to rule it.

In Obama's speech today, he mentioned that we need to look differently into mental health, which I 100 percent agree.

It should be interesting to see what the NRA has to say on Friday. Also gun sales are up since the shooting. Obviously some people are stocking up before it's too late.

Also, I know several people would take a cure for their Asperger Syndrome if one would ever be available. I would never take such a cure. Having Asperger Syndrome is what makes me me.And I wouldn't change that for the world. Now my Ulcerative Colitis is a whole differ thing.

alright, well I for one need to stop treating it as a curse. I know it's a gift, but it's one that's really, really hard to use.

I try to use my Asperger's smart for work or rather tasks. Since I know a lot about movies, sometimes I find movies in wal-mart for people that the Wal-Mart Employee didn't or couldn't find.

Also I at one time collected Beanie Babies and I still have the knowledge of rare ones. The other day I saw a rare beanie at thrift store for a quarter and sold it on ebay for about $45.

Also I share my stories with other people, my struggles and how I dealt with them. And give hope to others with it. If I didn't have Aspergers I know I wouldn't be into or know about Disney as much as I do. It's all in how you look at it and from a certain point of view. Use your gifts of knowledge to help others or advance a career. Someday I want to work at a Video Rental Store or the electronics departments in Wal-Mart. Since I know a lot about Movies, Video Games, various electronics I would be able to use my talents in that are very well.

Also a friend of my late grandpa use to say There's Not Enough Sane to take care of the insane. That's Very True.

Tomorrow the NRA is holding a press conference. I just hope the Politics get this fiscal cliff over with so we can proceed in these gun control issues.

NRA calls for armed police officer in every school
http://news.yahoo.com/nra-calls-armed-p ... 51713.html
The nation's largest gun-rights lobby called Friday for armed police officers to be posted in every American school to stop the next killer "waiting in the wings."

The National Rifle Association broke its silence Friday on last week's shooting rampage at a Connecticut elementary school that left 26 children and staff dead.

The group's top lobbyist, Wayne LaPierre, said at a Washington news conference that "the next Adam Lanza," the man responsible for last week's mayhem, is planning an attack on another school.

"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," LaPierre said.

He blamed video games, movies and music videos for exposing children to a violent culture day in and day out.

This Guy is 100 percent wrong

Also we need to look into how we handle mental health better, and not this tough up type attitude.

Yeah the guy is a nutjob. I don't think this is not the most rational solution. I mean cops sometimes go rouge and we want guns out of schools, not cops with guns in schools. Guns are not the answer here at all. You can't fight guns with more guns. That's just stupid.

I forgot I didn't edit my first post to say what I meant to type. I have edited it now at least.

The answer is not more guns, the answer is less. Also some of these shootings don't happen at just schools. Also I heard in Indiana they passed a law that teacher can carry guns which is not right either.

It's not as bad as the dicks at Westboro blaming Carrie Underwood for the shootings since she supports gay marriage.
