Disappointing Exclusives
I was disappointed to see that the Disney Movie Club is now reissuing True Life Adventures as exclusives...specifically "Secrets of Life" and "Jungle Cat". I suppose it's nice for anyone who missed buying the True Life Adventure sets, though the appear to still be available on Amazon. It's almost as if they're squirreling away the last few Walt era features rather than just releasing them.
Re: Disappointing Exclusives
I completely concur, DexterRiley. While I am glad to see the DMC continue to release exclusives, I wish they would concentrate on releasing material that has never been released on DVD (such as The Prince and the Pauper) rather than re-releasing previously released material.DexterRiley wrote:I was disappointed to see that the Disney Movie Club is now reissuing True Life Adventures as exclusives...specifically "Secrets of Life" and "Jungle Cat". I've heard rumor that they might release the rest of "Kim Possible" soon, but I agree with you guys. I have no issues with the DMC releasing previous released titles as there are fans who might have missed them last time. However, they need to focus on titles never released first.
What they really need to do is release more then two titles at a time and release new titles at least every month, but maybe that's asking too much? Considering the DVD-on-Demand program has fizzled out, I don't think it is.

Fact. My under the table contact was on the DVD-on-Demand team. He was taken off a few months ago because the program was dumped. He is now working for a completely different part of the company.Chernabog wrote:So there is not going to be any more releases on the DVD-On-Demand line? Is that a fact or just thinking?
I realize that many here are not willing to take my word just because I say it, which is why I have been trying to get an official statement from Disney. It took a while, but I finally got this:

Hello Jason,
Thank you for your email. As of right now there are currently no new titles scheduled to be released through Amazon DVD on Demand. We appreciate your comments and will forward your email to the correct department for consideration.

Thanks milojthatch for sharing that info.
Well, so here we go again....another line, another kind of product into the grave....I so much wish that Disney REALLY could decide on which media they want to continue to do their rare releases and not give up so easily and quickly all the time. They seems totally out of focus sometimes and give me a picture of buzzing flies, finding sweet stuff (read money) and land for a quick sip, whereafter they immideatly flying of to the next stop and leaving the sweet all drained out for the poor souls left behind (read us).
Sarcastic I know, but I begun to be SO TIRED of this reapeating itself again and again...
So now I REALLY REALLY agree with you milojthatch, when you said that you wish them to release more than two titles in the DMC at a time.
Well, we will see.....

Don't give up hope yet. I did not share what I did to take away hope, but rather to point out how serious this issue is. It's taken me longer then it should have, but I think I finally have a feeling for where a DVD fan campaign going up against Disney needs to go. Some major alterations are in effect, and a campaign specifically for DVD-on-Demand will play a major part in our future efforts. IN an era where Warner Bros is not just releasing about everything they have on DVD-on-Demand, but now Blu-ray-on-Demand, I'm not willing to let Disney get away with this without a fight.Chernabog wrote:Thanks milojthatch for sharing that info.

My hope is that everyone who reads this will join me in that fight. There is no good reason for Disney to abandon DVD-on-Demeand when they didn't even try the first time. I hope any nay sayers also might start to understand that the future of many of these unreleased titles really are in the hands of us fans. How bad do we want it? Stay tuned...

Are there new exclusives this month? I don't really like the way the new format of the DMC Store.
