Pocahontas grossed $346,079,773 worldwide & won 2 oscars for song & score. If that's a failure I wonder what success is.

I mean in terms of critical reception and public perception. It's RT rating is around the mid 50s compared to the other Renaissance movies which consistently achieved scores of 80-90. Its public perception is even worse, as reflected by its extraordinarily low score of 6.3 on IMDB. Most people who discuss Disney animated movies on the internet don't have a good word to say about it, it is regularly thrashed. The lower box-office earnings of the subsequent two films may also have been a result of disappointment in Pocahontas among other factors.

Sometimes I feel like one of 50 people who actually like it.

I know. But did these people say how historically innaccurate it is? Cuz I wouldnt go to hollywood for historical accuracy. Even Assassin's Creed, though they get events right, would've had a problem with her age if they tried to do pocahontas' era. That's partly why they age everyone the hollywood way(in terms of casting).

It is a common complaint about the film but by no means the only one.

They do have a point however. Butchering source material is one thing but portraying historical events inaccurately can easily be perceived as disrespectful. I don't think Disney's Pocahontas was malicious and within the film itself, the native Americans weren't portrayed badly but perhaps they shouldn't have done that at all, or at least changed the names of Pocahontas, John Smith and Powhattan.

Of course, this has nothing to do with Frozen and the comparisons to Pocahontas on that basis are baffling.

I'm surprised most people don't think of earnings as somewhat reflective of what comes before and after. It's the main reason I wouldn't have expected WIR to flop, mainly because it came after Tangled. I think people are less likely to give their next film a chance if they didn't like the one they saw last.

Of course, there are exceptions.

Nah, they were already well prepared to write it off beforehand based on the switch to CG and the unfaithfulness to the source material which has suddenly become everyone's favorite fairy tale.

That was me! Don't like either of those. The story changes would've still bothered me before the format was changed and Menken was booted though.

And, like I said above, I don't expect this to flop coming off WIR, since so far that's been well-received.

My only point is that the composer himself seems still confident and enthousiastic about the quality of the forthcoming movie. He thinks it's going to be AMAZING. That's encouraging. Bye.

So, somebody who went to the D23 expo actually remembered the tune of "Let it Go," and sang a short cover of a snippet of the song during a podcast. It's obviously a very rough take on what an audience member heard, and there's apparently a line missing, but I could still totally hear Idina singing it.

I really appreciate the podcast of these girls, giving the fact we have nothing "official" from Disney...

Btw, I can't wait for the Annecy film festival =D I hope they show a lot of things!!
(I went this year, and Disney showed the full first scene of Wreck-it Ralph, the whole Paperman short and two making of (one of them with Glen Keane footage); and Pixar showed the first half hour of Brave so, I have great expectations for a Frozen presentation =D)

Unfortunately, that's the case! I said it before: Frozen is the most secretive film in the history of the Disney animated canon! I have been following Disney films yearly since Tarzan, & I have NEVER seen a film as closely guarded as Frozen! You go back to November 2009, They had concept art images, even a pic of a fully rendered cgi Rapunzel out. Go back to November of last year, they had fully rendered cgi images of Felix & Vanellope, even the Fix-it Felix arcade game was shown! Here we are, about year from Frozen's release & what do they have: a pooly low-res pencil sketch of Anna & Elsa! The only complete character we have seen is Olaf, & that we could have done without. I guarantee you won't see this with Big Hero 6. Images for that film should be out by Comic Con & D23 next summer, a year & a half before it's release! They clearly have images to show last August, but they showed them only to a payed audience behind closed doors, no camera's allowed! It's clear there's something about Frozen that the executives at Disney are worried about. Question is, how much longer are they gonna keep images of this film away from their loyal fans

Don't read too much into that. I doubt Disney are worried about it. The reception from those who did go to Destination D a few months ago were very positive. Blue Sky Disney and Jim Hill (though I've read that he can be unreliable) are also pretty big on it.
