So I got the DVD today and I want to know if this looks fake or used. It had no sticker on the top when I opened it. It also looks like it was re shrink wrapped.
What do you guys think?

Does it look real or fake to you guys?Matt wrote:With the movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2-Disc Collector's Edition)

Did the DVD skip on the previews when it started though?AladdinFan wrote:It looks exactly like my Atlantis Collector's Edition DVD. From the pic the you posted it look real.
I believe no Disney Collector's Edition DVDs had any sticker (maybe some did had) on top of the case only the Buena Vista/Disney stamp logo on the shrinkwrap behind the DVD. Also all Disney CE DVDs looked they have been re-shrink wrapped that's normal that's how Disney packed it.
On my computer it did but not my Blu-ray player.ajmrowland wrote:Not this one but some dvds did. I dont think that should be a problem for you thoughñ

No this is what I am talking about, these look like little scratches.Neal wrote:Little scratches? Do you mean those rectangular bars? Those are the encoding marks. Those are what keep you from ripping the DVD onto your computer with ease.
Also, where did you say you bought it? Some stores sell legit DVDs, but their method for acquiring those DVDs was not legit. They may have bought the DVD at resale, then opened the packages, re-shrink wrapped them and resold them. That could be why there is no sticker.
I've bought "new" DVDs in the past that turned out to be re-sells, but not bootlegs.
I have also bought comic book bundles in plastic wrap, but they are all missing the cover. For some reason, stores who re-sell comics as "new" remove the cover.
Perhaps the DVD sticker (and the comic cover) offer ways to track where the store is buying from before resale.

Thank you thoughNeal wrote:Hmm, well unfortunately my copy is not here with me at college but back home with my parents, so I cannot advise any further.
The only bootleg Disney DVD I ever received was of Lion King II. The seller seemed to legitimately not know when I confronted him and I got a refund. It just sucks though, ha, I am very serious about buying my films legitimately. The quality was fine, it was a very close replica of the real release.
I believe it was re-sealed as well. It was taken very good care of it though. Also the seller is denying it and saying it was brand new.Khonnor wrote:Judging from the case and the booklet that's included, I think it's not a fake/bootleg. That is, if it is indeed a fold-out booklet?
I do think, however, it's not new, but used and re-sealed.
I meant to post this a few days ago. But those tiny little scratches will have no affect on playback. No data is stored in that area. That area is where the disc is clamped on to the spindle, via a very powerful magnet (in comparison to fridge magnets anyway). Magnet mount sits on top of the disc to keep it secure, while the disc spins at high speeds. So if you have broken DVD/Blu-ray/CD player or Disc Writer/ROM and you need a reasonably strong, but small magnet, you can open up your player and take it from that.Matt wrote:I just don't like these little scratches on the center.
