i finally got some spare money today to buy mickey mouse, donald duck, and on the front lines. mickey and donald were sold out at all of the nearest 10 Walmarts and nearest 3 Costcos, but the local Media Play store still had tons of everything. everyone had OTFL and some had Tommorrowland. BTW, I live in Provo, UT.

Depends, I've seen some stores like Borders and Best Buy in my area have only one or two left. I think both were Donald. Yet I went to Sam's Club and saw all four.

They are plentiful in my town. I am beginning to think I am the only Disney fan in the city.Or at least one of a few.

Walt Disney Treasures

Post by Disney Guru »

It Is funny but I wanted to buy all of the treasures before but I just recently borrowed one of them from a friend and they aren't really worth buying I think I rather just spend my DVD Money on Movies and not these Treasure Set THings.

Disney Treasures availability

Post by ghost999 »

In case anyone is still interested. I checked at my local Sam’s Club and they still have about 30 Treasures in stock. They have about 20 Front Lines, 10 Tomorrowland's and one Donald Duck. No Mickey Mouse available. I noticed that the Disney catalogue still has them all in stock plus the 7-disc box set. I just checked Amazon and they are out of Tomorrowland, and have raised the prices on Front Lines and Donald to $28.04. They have MM at $24.74.

As of last week, my local Sam's Club still had good supplies of all four available at $20.96.

Same at my Sam's Club, but they seem to have a 5:1 ratio of OTFL/Tomorrowland to MMCV2/CD. Ours are $20.56 though.

I need a frame of reference - Just what sales figures do studios consider to be a success for DVD's of non first run films. I know that a title like "Finding Nemo" or "Spiderman" will sell millions of units, but at what level do catalog tiles sell? Do the films in the Fox Studio Classics series sell better or worse than the Disney Treasures? What about the Chaplin or Marx Brothers boxed sets? I think that if the WDT's are judged to be a success , the questions to be asked should be... is there enough sales to create return of profit to warrant cost of production of these titles and how do the sales of these discs compare to similiar titles (If there are any titles that could be considered similair, the closest being The Looney Tunes Collection)?

This mid-year release of the Treasures are undoubtably a success. Disney only made a limited number, and judging from on-line shops, all have been sold into retail.

I say this because DeepDiscountDVD isn't offering any of the sets for sale, neither do DVDPlanet. Other sites are listing one or two of the sets as being "unavailable" (mainly Tomorrowland). All this suggests to me that the distributors have no more stocks to pass on to retail. Therefore Disney has sold all the tins they made. They can't really expect to do anything more!

Disney doesn't care if the tins sitting on retailers shelves have sold or not. Disney have taken all the money they are going to take from the sets by selling them on to retail.

As for sets still being available on shelves, well, remember other sets were released close to Christmas which would undoubtably boost sales. Plus, other odd sets were floating about on retailers shevles for a while. Only the Complete Goofy seems to have taken off like a rocket.

To suggest that Disney may not be happy with the current situation is being somewhat pessimistic (something I'm usually accused of).
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Heh, famous last words. I remember folks saying that when Wave 1 came out.

Couple years later, and it's "ACK! It's $90 for Mickey in Living Colour!!! I need that to complete my collection!!" :)

I'm astonished that they still aren't sold out on Amazon (except TL).

At the Disney World shops they have a healthy amount of all four treasures, although they might be missing any one particular set at any given store (yeah, figure that one out).

Well, in my recent rounds of DVD shopping here, I've found that even the places that looked like they would never sell out of Treasures are down to 3 or 4 left, max. I didn't check Disney Store, though.

Yep, I think you'll find quite a few threads on it. Here's where the titles are confirmed: http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... +wave+four. If you search for others, you'll find them. If you're just looking for an official release date, though, we'll probably see it in the nearing months, if not weeks. You're right, it is expected to come in December of this year (seems so soon, doesn't it?), but nothing's been officially announced yet that I know of.
