Just because I report news about Disney animation, doesn't mean I exert any sort of authority around here. At least, I don't see it that way.

Fine. I will try to be more careful of what I say in the future, if it makes you feel any better.

If I may be honest, all this talk of hand drawn being "dead" at Disney, combined with the fact that I can't get Thanksgiving and the day after off to spend with my mom, sister and brother when they come to visit me, is making me feel a little emotionally sick. :(

:( Oh, I'm so sorry about that, DisneyJedi. I truly hope you'll be able to spend Thanksgiving with your family.

Don't let the plight of 2D animation bother you so much. We all love it and want it to come back, but whether it does or not isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. :)

Maybe authority isn't the right word... Jus, an important member, rather. Prominent.

Just be more optimistic about the future of animation! Even if some things aren't the way some of us would like them to be at the moment doesn't mean there's no hope for good things to come. For all we know we'll get some news next week that Disney has a completely original, completely hand drawn film that's starting production next month. Who knows. I just don't like the overall pessimism of the board, that's all.

I edited that post for spelling mistakes. It had nothing to do with your comment. I think you saw what you wanted to see.
Unsurprisingly.

Also, I would hardly blame Sotiris for the fact that TsWade and DisneyJedi have meltdowns every other post. They're welcome to do that, of course, but that can't be blamed on other posters. Moreover, I don't see anyone else taking the time to post news updates here? I've always thought the reason Sotiris doesn't post their opinion at the same time as the news is to keep their opinion from being misconstrued as "the news."

And I can't help but think most of the things you've said also apply to yourself. You don't have the authority to correct other people for not being optimistic enough for you. Seriously.

I try but whenever I find something I'm sure no one has reported yet I see Sotiris has already beaten me to it :P  .

 In all seriousness though, I don't want other people to feel discouraged about posting news or contributing to the forum. There have been plenty of times that others have posted news or information I didn't know and I'm grateful for that.

I don't think you discourage anyone, you definitely don't discourage me, you're just very fast when it comes to posting news and you know the best places to look out for it. I appreciate you taking the time to look for the news and for posting it, I'm not even aware of most of the blogs you post from so it helps me keep up with a lot of what is going on at WDAS and Pixar.

I want to apologize about my meltdown. It's not worth it. And I want to apologize to Sotiris about my tantrum. Sotiris, I appreciate the news you gave us even though I like them or not. I know Disney is doing their best and to assure you, I am not against CGI at all. Wreck It Ralph is an excellent movie. And Tangled was their best CGI movie ever. :(

I feel the need to interject the saying "don't shoot the messenger". Our personal feelings about the way the industry us going is not going to sway it, so people might as well be honest and not sugarcoat their thoughts.

According to Steve Hulett, a hand-drawn animated short is being done at Disney and will be shown in front of Frozen.
Some of the hand-drawn crew are working on a real interesting short* that will (I'm told) be out with Frozen next year.

* Something old and something new. And I'm keeping my yap shut about it. So don't ask.

It's dead, it's alive!! it's dead, it's alive!! it's dead again, oh no wait it's alive!!

This roller coaster is making me nauseous. BUT, this is good news. Hopefully, it's a Donald short. Man would I love to see a modern Donald short.

Something old and something new...a short featuring one of the classic characters and the Paperman style perhaps?

Nah, he said 'the hand drawn crew'.

I'm guessing, it's kind of like 'How to hook up Your Home Theater' in that they'll do a classic character with a modern setting. Mickey playing a videogame for example... well, they did that in Runaway Brain, but you get what I mean.

The technique uses hand-drawn animation though doesn't it? If it does then a short would be the ideal way to get hand-drawn animators used to the technique in preparation for a possible feature in the future. I'm just speculating here, I have no clue what this could mean and your guess is probably more likely to be correct than mine.

Exactly. To declare either way at this point is just silly.

I also think he's referring to the 'Paperman' technique. In any case, I say bring it on.
