So apparently a bunch of new Sofia the first video have been popping up including behind the scene explanations on who the characters are and their roles which I did find somewhat interesting. Also lol'd and surprise at Wayne Brandy as the bunny.

Does my ears deceive me Wayne Brady is playing on Disney now?I have the best guess he is trying to have some child voice acting cred. Then again I think he has done voice acting before. Then again it seems popular for 80's or 90's stars to get into voice acting these days.

I saw a commercial for this recently on the new channel. Eh...it looks horrible. But it would be relatively harmless until I saw the new Cinderella...

I have an issue with CG incarnations of hand-drawn characters especially when it's the low-budget, crude CG. It kind of proves that bad CG looks worse than bad 2D.

Eh, it doesn't bother me. I think the cgi is alright for what it is: a show geared towards little girls.

I will watch this on Sunday.

I agree; budget has a lot to do with it, imo. I mean, looking at that Swan Princess 4 (the CG one)--it almost makes The Hunchback of Notre Dame II look like a masterpiece in comparison.

That said, I do think hand-drawn characters can look good in CG when done right (I'm thinking of Kingdom Hearts and Twice Upon A Christmas), but it seems to take a lot more effort and some things always seem lost in translation. I'm thinking of that picture of Rapunzel strangling Flynn with her hair, and it just doesn't look as good in CG for me, personally.

So, i saw Sophia the First. The animation was nice and it looks like 2D in CGI, but:

It was horrible. I'm sorry, but it was awkward with the characters and the interactions, the rabbit was annoying, and oh, according to the show:

1. The Disney Princesses are dead. (The necklace has the princesses that ever WERE).
2. Their sidekicks never liked them, they just wanted food.

Wait, where was it implied that the princesses were dead? All it say was that the necklace transport any of the princesses ever were as in ever exist, to help Sofia. No were it implied they're dead. Because if that was the case, how the fuck will they bring tiana who's timeline period most obviously takes place long after Sofia's.
I think it just transport the princess from their dimension to Sofia's to give advice.

As for the animals, they're socialist.

Personally I think it was good. I think you guys are holding too much big expectations out of it as if it's Disney animation canon level. I like Amber and how much of a bitch she is in the beginning. I also like the butler. I dunno why but something about his mannerism and voice makes me like him. Song were also decently ok.

New trailer for the series premiering in January. Apparently, trolls, witches, and mermaids will be added into the mix. Could this mean an Ariel cameo?

Did somebody say trolls?

Is it me or does the riding Pegasuses sequence remind you of Harry Potter Quidditch?
