As a Western European, I don't get the whole concept of praying. I don't want to be disrespectful, but it seems to be such a waste of time.

You don't see Muslims praying in your country? They obviously get the "concept" of praying. There are Western Europeans who pray in mosques every day!

Yes, but I don't have much contact with believing Muslims. They are (unfortunately) a pretty much isolated subculture. And again- I didn't want to be disrespectful. If something I said seemed rude to you, I'm sorry about that!

From the quite above it looks like you only read the first four words. In short - There is nothing to hate about people coming together to pray for our leaders and our country and the course taken as we move forward.

I like to cut to the point. Like I said, I don’t get your response in regards to what I said. People who pray because they believe the end of the world is coming because Obama/a Democrat became president is not something deplorable? But even beyond that, I think there is many reasons to hate about people who support institutional homophobia and sexism, and think Obama is Satan reincarnated. It's sick. Moreover, it's just one more case of judgmental Christians not even knowing their own religious texts.

These are the same people who would blame hurricane Sandy on gay people. Sorry, I don't find anything redeemable about that, either. I would be more sympathetic, but once someone casts judgment on me, they should expect to be judged in return.

I think it is time to close this thread. The election is over, and there is already an existing thread for discussing religion. Please post religious topics in the religion thread. If someone wants to start a new thread for discussing politics, I'm alright with that.
