A thought just came to me today. I wonder if DreamWorks Animation will think about renaming the both the title and lead character of their upcoming movie "Turbo", about a snail who wants to become a racer. With the villain of this movie being a racer also named Turbo and Wreck-It Ralph still being fresh in peoples' memories, well...it's going to strange seeing characters referring to a nice racer snail as Turbo.

I think a good tv tropes term for that is Hilarious In Hindsight or probably Harsher In Hindsight considering how evil Turbo was in the film.

Anyone see this in 3D and was it worth it? I want to see this movie but don't have a lot of money so if it really doesn't add anything to it, I'd rather save some money.

I saw it today, and enjoyed it in 3D! I felt it was worth it.
If you enjoy 3D and/or want to see it in 3D, I say go for it.
Of course, it's just my opinion, and 3D isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Thank you! There are so many movies that are released in 3D and some it really adds something to it and others you watch and it doesn't seem lke it makes a difference. I *really* want to see this!

“Wreck-It Ralph” is a movie with a lot of underlying messages and themes. From accepting oneself to trying to reach for a better life, it has it all. There is even an underlying message of the blue collar worker becoming jaded with his life and wanting something more. Tired of being treated horribly just because his job isn’t as glamorous as the next guys. It also builds on the theory that everyone has their place in the world regardless of how badly you maybe treated right now. It’s all about dusting yourself off and trying to change the way the world sees you.

The film is directed incredibly well. Every side story is handled with care and the same amount of detail as the main story so it doesn’t feel tacked on. Characters are well highlighted and developed, showing their strengths and weaknesses. The visual gags are funny and it’s incredibly fun trying to find your favorite classic video game characters. Writing is what makes this movie so enjoyable. It has smart and funny humor that caters to both adults and children. Never once talking down to it’s audience. The film even uses pop-culture references in a smart and classy way to a point where it’s funny. However, the movie doesn’t rely just on the jokes to get by, there is a lot of heart in the story. The relationship between Ralph and Venellope is touching. There is a lot of emotional depth to the movie as well as many light-hearted funny moments and they’re blended very well together.

If you’re looking for a bunch of classic video game characters strolling through the screen, well look no further, “Wreck-It Ralph” has them. They aren’t as integral to the story as many would hope, but it’s fun trying to find your favorites. Even though your favorite game characters aren’t important to the main story, they help create a very fun and interesting world and they even get some funny moments.And there are plenty of references please the gamers.

The real stars of the movie are Ralph, Vanellope, Fix-It Felix Jr, Sgt. Calhoun, and King Candy. All characters are great and they have their own time to shine. Ralph is a 9ft and 600+ lbs goliath with a quick temper, but a heart of gold. He is the every man and it’s really easy to root for him. John C. Riley does a fantastic job of voicing the character and he knows how to balance the humor with the heart. Vanellope is a glitch in the game “Sugar Rush,” a Mario Kart-esque game, She is very sweet and cute. Some people might be annoyed by her voice, but the moment the character appeared on screen, I fell in love with her. Sarah Silverman does a fantastic job of voicing her and making an annoying voice incredibly likable. Jack McBrayer voices Fix-It Felix Jr, a goody to shoe. He’s likable and some very cute moment with Sgt. Calhoun, voiced by Jane Lynch. Calhoun is a tough military leader and she has this incredibly tragic back story that is actually pretty hilarious. King Candy, voiced by Alan Tudyk, is king of “Sugar Rush.” He’s very reminiscent of the Mad Hatter in the way he speaks. He’s a fun character to watch on screen.

Animation is beautiful in this movie, some of Disney’s best. The colors are bright and vivid, the different locations look unique and lush. It feels very much like a living breathing world. Each character also movies in a manor to their own game. And the use of music is excellent too. From the score by Henry Jackman to the music by various artists, they are all used incredibly well and only elevate every scene and moment. I love how each world had it’s own sound.

Overall, “Wreck-It Ralph” is an awesome movie that excels on every level. It has gorgeous animation with a great score to back up everything happening on screen. The characters are likable and the cameos are fun and entertaining. The jokes all hit along with the pop-culture references. Incredible direction and script elevate the movie to the stratosphere. Above all else it has heart. “Wreck-It Ralph” is the best animated movie this year and not only just that, but also one of the best films period of the year. Anyone can watch it and enjoy, it’s not just for gamers. I give it 5/5, smart, witty, and fun with a lot of heart.

I watched Wreck-It Ralph yesterday and I was delighted by it. It was so fun! Before I went into the movie theater, I went into a Hallmark store to have fun looking at the huge display of ornaments for this year. After I looked it all over, I realised there was no ornament to represent the Wreck-It Ralph film. I couldn't believe it! Rise of the Guardians isn't out in theaters till Nov. 21 and the store had an ornament of Jack Frost to represent that film! Poor Ralph loses again! Before I left the store, I bought an ornament of Sulley holding Boo and an ornament of Rapunzel wearing her braid and holding a lantern above her.

Did Paperman remind anyone else of (500) Days of Summer?

I haven't watched that film. The part when the planes are bringing the man and woman together reminds me of the cupids bringing the blue centaur and blue centaurette together in Fantastia.

Generally this. King Candy always reminded me of something, but now I realize it's the Mad Hatter and his actor.

Vanellope is a character I fell in love with even though a lot of people think she's annoying. The one thing is she's supposed to be a glitch, but she's the hollywood version of glitch and doesnt do anything you see in actual video game glitches. I guess I wouldnt've been bothered so much if there werent so many in Assassin's Creed 3 which I've been playing almost nonstop this past week. the only actual glitch i've seen is going through a bit of set to find an unfinished or hidden level. With proper cheats and coding, some games do let you do that, but it's rare. Otherwise I loved her and thought some gags of hers were quite funny, including the bakery sequence.

and they made it clear these characters in Sugar Rush are supposed to be little kids which is a nice detail.


Paperman was very cute, but I was more impressed with the technique. Also, nice retro Disney logo at the end of that.

And I loved the 8-bit WDAS logo and the Glitched Disney logo at the end. The 8bit Disney logo wasnt used though.

I wouldnt give it 5 stars, but it is really enjoyable and maybe a day 1 purchase for me.


Edit: by the way, I also really liked the 8-bit and 16-bit animations and seeig them reminded me: I never ever seen anything about how that process is done. Almost every other type of animation, but never 2D CGI.

I'm with you Divinity. I know I'm in a minority here, but Wreck It Ralph is one of the most disposable Disney animated films I've seen. Despite what I'm hearing from other people, I think it lacked total heart and was more of an obvious attempt at making money than telling a good story or making good art. In 10 years Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty will still resonate with familes.....Wreck It Ralph - not so much.

But that's simply my opinion. I don't mean to rain on anyone else's enjoyment.

Despite what I'm hearing from other people, I think it lacked total heart and was more of an obvious attempt at making money than telling a good story or making good art. In 10 years Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty will still resonate with familes.....Wreck It Ralph - not so much.

Having not seen the film yet, I can’t really comment on the quality (or lack thereof), but I agree it seems to be a very by-the-numbers movie. I think there was an article not too long ago that stated Jane Lynch’s character’s world was made for boys and Sugar Rush was for girls--I find that very calculated, tbh, the opposite of creativity. I will say that it looks relatively flavorless, somewhere around a 2 or 3 out of 5, harmless but uninspired.

But you're not raining on anyone's parade. It's nice to hear more opinions.

I actually felt Wreck-It Ralph took some rather unexpected turns. Even though the trailer gave a basic idea of Vanellope's sad story, they really took it to another level and the pathos was not something I expected. The portrayal of the villain was also unpredictable.

Having read about the Sugar Rush characters before, I was surprised how small of a role they played...

I don't think that King Candy/Turbo is the best Disney villain by any means, but he was a good character (and I agree with estefan- totally unexpected!)...and King Candy totally did remind me of the Mad Hatter.

I thought the film had a lot of heart and humor. I loved Ralph's and Vanellope's friendship. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. My expectations were definitely met- I came away really happy. The Rihanna song, though, stuck out...I like the song on its own, but I agree- they maybe could have written a new song for that scene...

And there were a lot of trailers shown, and the Monsters, Inc 3D trailer played but not the one for Monsters University which I thought was disappointing, since so many other studios had trailers playing... (edit) Just remembered that Oz played...but still would've liked to have seen MU's!

Oh,yes the villian,just so you know I think Turbo/King Candy is one of the most despicable and selfish disney villians ever put out.Heck,he even beats out Mother Gothel in being a self absorbed prick.King Candy/Turbo is a complete monster in my book and deserves no pity because of his own desire to be the center of attention even when it comes at the misery of others.

Everyone certainly is entitled to their own opinion. I wouldn't give Ralph a 5 (maybe a 3.5 or a 4) but I did enjoy it. Whether the (Hero's Duty and Sugar Rush) worlds were created for boys and girls specifically I don't know. Neither scene felt particularly gender specific (though I certainly craved a LOT of candy after the Sugar Rush scene).

What was interesting to me, though was within the Litwalk arcade, a girl was playing Hero's Duty while boys - or at least one boy - was playing Sugar Rush

Ironically, the two films you hold up as standards - Pinocchio and Bambi are among the two I enjoy least. Pinocchio is nice enough, but what's with the endless display of clocks in Geppetto's shop and how they all work? It's like "We get it. He makes clocks. Move on already!" And Bambi gets my vote as most boring DAC ever (though in fairness, I didn't first see it until I was 14 so I didn't grow up watching it and it holds zero nostalgia for me).

I personally am glad for Disney mixing things up a bit, because if all their movies were like Pinocchio and Bambi, I'd have lost interest long, long ago.

They are the standards; whether I or you personally like them is not the issue. Those two alone are also fairly different from one another, so I don't think anyone's saying they should make movies just like them either. There's no need to tear two better-made films down to benefit another.

I don't want to turn this into a Pinocchio discussion, but that seems like a pretty minute detail and frankly rather nitpicky reason to not get for the film , especially since most of the story doesn't even take place in Geppeto's home.

I read that as Ralph being happy he landed in something that wouldn't kill or seriously hurt him. I mean If were in that situation and then landed safely in a tub of mayonnaise I'd be thankful. And I HATE mayonnaise... I often call it the Devil's condiment.
