The Muppet Christmas Carol Blu-ray November 6th!

Post by Mickeyfan1990 »

The Muppet Christmas Carol Blu-ray has been announced!:

http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-mup ... ber-21519/

"Prior to any official announcement, Walt Disney Studios has announced intentions to bring the Muppet holiday classic, Muppet Christmas Carol, to Disney Blu-ray on November 6, 2012 as a 20th anniversary edition featuring all new bonus features.

Bonus features are set to include:

•Disney Intermission: Press “Pause” and see what happens when the Muppets Show up at your door to sing your Christmas Carols – Muppet Style!
•Muppet Audio Commentary: All New Audio Commentary from your favorite Muppets – Kermit, Gonzo, Rizzo, and More!
•Muppet Holiday Sing-Along
•Blooper Reel
•Frogs, Pigs, and Humbug: A Behind the Scenes Look
•Christmas Around the World with Gonzo and Rizzo
•Audio Commentary from Brian Henson
•Pepe’s Profiles Presents: Gonzo, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Weirdo"

No word if it's the theatrical or extended version (or even if it will have both versions).

I am not sure if I want the Blu-Ray or not. Also. where's the Blu-Rays of the original Muppet Movie or The Great Muppet Caper?

Considering the lack of the Brian Henson commentary, I have a bad feeling that this will have the shorter theatrical version only. So, I 'd suggest we all write letters and/or make phone calls to Disney's customer service.

I know that a widescreen version of the longer version exists, since it was released in letterbox form on laserdisc back in the day.

EDIT: Whoops, now I see that the Brian Henson commentary IS included, so the full version will almost certainly be included. Here's hoping that the new Muppet character commentary is at least better than the one from Muppets From Space.

Walmart.com lists the runtime at 89 minutes, so I'm pretty sure we're getting the extended cut.

OK, we got confirmation that the version on the Blu-ray will be the theatrical version:

Dissapointing I know. Though for sure we we're gonna get the extended cut. The very least they could've added Love Is Gone as a deleted scene extra.

I don't understand WHY Disney does things like this when they KNOW what the fans want. :(

Once again (I'm starting to feel like a broken record here), don't get rid of your DVD!

It is so sad that Disney fans have to hold on to older releases to have have MORE of the special features, when it should be the other way around.

Do you remember Disney DVDs being mostly vanilla disk releases, then when they got promoted to special editions it was so amazing, as they were just so jam packed with features, like the Aladdin DVD ? And it was SO exciting waiting for a release ?

Now, new releases just make me nervous.

Exactly why I'm not too upset over losing the song on the Blu-ray. If I REALLY want to watch it, I can pop in either of the DVDs.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

Found this information linked on another site, blu-ray.com, so everything is still up in the air perhaps? Just wanted to pass it along for more discussion perhaps?

Yeah the Amazon exclusive includes an additional DVD copy. Shame the exclusive couldn't include the Extended Cut on the Blu-ray disc.

The Amazon exclusive version is back up at the current time. A little over $10 more just to add a DVD seems like something I won't bite on being that I already own the 2005 DVD release. I'll stick with the general release it looks like.
