Regarding the Mr. Whiskers thing. I'm kind of wondering if that's tapping into the whole theme of how the kids have become selfish and competitive to the point of not even noticing certain things amiss. From what I recall, Weird Girl wasn't paying attention to him hopping on the bed and grabbing the bat but then discovered too late what happened.

The French Blu-ray comes out at the end of February and it opens there on Halloween. If that gap between theaters and Blu-ray is the same here, we're looking at January release in the US.
Micheal Eisner was counting his money and he got DIZZNEY!

But generally the pattern I remember is october for theatrical means Februrary for home entertainment.

Just as January goes to all the september releases.

If they found a way to work in a werewolf weakness for the rat, it would have been a little more acceptable to me.

I thought the movie was good, even with it's weaknesses, but like Corpse Bride, nothing spectacular. Selick did so much to make Nightmare work and Burton's solo efforts in stop motion after that just aren't quite as good.
Actually Corpse Bride wasnt a solo effort for him, and I LOVE this movie to death!

This movie was really really good! It took it's time to craft not only its story but its characters and its moments which made it so great! There were plenty of jokes that have been done before (like a big shadow turning out to being from something small) but it was all done so well it didn't matter!

This really felt like a new classic film actually, so I think it will become a classic! I find it to be better than The Nightmare Before Christmas, this film felt like it had more heart and was not too interrupted with songs or characters that were not always good.

My favorite thing from this film other than it's sincerity and the way it felt like Victor's life was and must have reflected Burton's own, was Weird Girl and Mr.s Whiskers! While I agree with estefan that Weird Girl was hilarious just being there, it was her cat which beat her to me in terms of how freakin' funny he was just staring with his wide eyes! He just looks through a window and he's so funny! He's so creepy yet so funny!

The only thing is this movie got what I would call uncharacteristically scataological for Tim Burton. I'm just going to come out and say I think the cat poop was in bad taste and a big surprise for Burton to have such a thing. But it was really wrong for a Disney movie of all things!

Read only if you would like to keep an eye out for an easter egg cameo in the movie of something Disney

When seeing the movie, keep an eye for a Movie Theater Marquee and it will show that Bambi is playing of the Now Showing Movies.

Also the movie was very good and I was surprised how the 3D was actually better than I expected. being a 3D Black and White Movie.

what made you think that Black and White would hinder the 3D?

Yeah, but how much of a role in developing the story did Mike Johnson even have?

IDK, I've always thought the more color, the better the 3D is depending on what film it is.

Also this was my first time seeing a Black and White Movie In theaters.

Same for me, but I still never made the connection.

In fact, regarding shadows and such, black and white always seemed to have more depth in retrospect.

Same for, "Paranorman." Coming to DVD November 27. 2012. http://www.walmart.com/ip/ParaNorman-Bl ... n/21905946

It's funny of how Halloween movies get released so early after shown in theaters within a month, a month and a half, or two, besides three months. I bet, "Hotel Transylvania," would do the same, or stay in theaters to make money. I believe that, "Paranorman," and, "Frankenweenie," is getting a release date on DVD early, because it's not producing enough money at the box office. Each does receive positive reviews though, except for, "Hotel Transylvania," according to Rotten Tomatoes.

Should we classify that as good or bad?

It ain't John Carter but it ain't good either. Remember that those low numbers are with mostly 3D inflated admission prices AND that half of those or more probably went in with free Disney Movie Cash vouchers.
