We need to send a note of thanks to the Disney Movie Club, because I've been pleasantly surprised with the new exclusive release, "The Magnificent Rebel."
When I popped in the DVD to begin watching it, I was at first upset when I saw a snippet of the film, thinking the disc was flawed and the film was starting way into the picture, but then I realized that I was watching one of the old-fashioned anthology series openings where we were treated to a snippet of a preview of the episode to follow! And then it grew even better, as here's what follows:
The Wonderful World of Color opening title
Walt's Part I intro
Walt's Part I ending at the end of the episode
The preview of the next week's Part II episode
The Part I credits
The Wonderful World of Color opening title for Part II
Walt's Part II intro
And the Part II credits
This release ranks up there with "Atta Girl, Kelly" in offering us original titles, Walt introductions, Walt closing comments and the end credits. In fact, I have the Amazon digital download of this film, and it appears to be the same as the foreign VHS PAL release. Here in this new DVD release, Walt's narration continues from his introduction as the film starts, whereas the Amazon VHS PAL version doesn't have any of that.
The print is also remarkably good quality, better than I expected. It's simply magnificent, pardon the pun, to have a DMC Exclusive come with all of this, especially for this vintage title from the "Wonderful World of Color's" first season!
The Magnificent Rebel DVD is awesome!

Glad Disney is now releasing some of it's more obscure titles, Ghosts of Buxley Hall especially wonderful little family film with young Rad Daly. Hopefully The Kids Who Knew Too Much will be coming soon another delightful 80s Disney MFTV treat with Rad Daly and a bunch of adorable child stars as remote control airplane aficionados that get mixed up with a political assassination plot also stars the brilliant Sharon Gless as a news reporter who gets involved and tries to help the kids.
And of course the Gallegher series a true treat come on Disney, and another one I have always wanted to see a controversial little piece The Young Runaways with the lovely Anne Francis that dealt with the topic of abandoning children, foster homes etc.

Great to hear. We've been hearing this was the case over at Open Vault Disney, and it's my hope that DMC titles only improve with each new release.
