Then the complete MIckey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, Oswald, Silly Symphonies, Figaro, Chip'n Dale, ect Re-restoring and mastering the WDT for Blu-Ray, as these shorts are as much "canon" as those features.albogango wrote:Now, all that's left to be released of the Disney 51 are the remaining package films, the Sword in the Stone, the Jungle Book, Robin Hood, the Black Cauldron, Oliver and Company, the Emperor's New Groove, and Lilo and Stitch.
Der Fuehrer's Face is the greatest Donald Duck cartoon ever made.
Definitely agreed that they should be treated at least as well as the features. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be seeing anywhere near the Treasures treatment. I think we should look forward to whatever kind of digital release the shorts get when Disney finally jumps into their digital service.Heil Donald Duck wrote:Then the complete MIckey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, Oswald, Silly Symphonies, Figaro, Chip'n Dale, ect Re-restoring and mastering the WDT for Blu-Ray, as these shorts are as much "canon" as those features.albogango wrote:Now, all that's left to be released of the Disney 51 are the remaining package films, the Sword in the Stone, the Jungle Book, Robin Hood, the Black Cauldron, Oliver and Company, the Emperor's New Groove, and Lilo and Stitch.

It seems that Bambi will be re-issued on Blu-ray in France on October 24, 2012.

I don't want a Treasures-like set. The premise behind them was it being a limited edition set that was higher priced than other 2-Disc sets. I don't want that at all. The fact that the most Classic Mickey and Classic Silly Symphonies shorts have essentially been OOP since 2002, 10 years, is a great disservice. They should release sets like "Mickey Mouse Animated Shorts" and "Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies", much like the Looney Toons and Tom & Jerry Blu-ray sets. Saving them for a digital service is a real disservice to the shorts. I'm not going to look forward to any digital service Disney release.
Haha yes, you've made that very clear in the past.The_Iceflash wrote:I'm not going to look forward to any digital service Disney release.
But I don't see how it would a disservice to the shorts, if that were the way they were finally released to the public again. Regardless of how, wouldn't the fact that they were being released at all be a good thing?
Plus, Disney is likely to make at least a number of their classic shorts free, like they have on their Disney Video Beta page: http://video.disney.com/ If the shorts were available to the public again, in a way that more people would see that they were available and would be more likely to watch them, and they were free? That can't possibly be a disservice, no matter what your personal opinion on digital media is.
Until then, I'm sure the only way the shorts will be released are on sets like the Have a Laugh or other small compilations.
1) can you describe what this website is exactly? it's geo-locked.SWillie! wrote:Haha yes, you've made that very clear in the past.

2) what's so great about digital, aside the fact that you can have all your movie on the cloud in case of loss or theft or whatever?
