Ever Hear of Goodreads?

Post by PixarFan2006 »

Has anyone ever been on or is a member of the site Goodreads? I have used the site for several months now and I think its pretty good. Aside from allowing you to enter giveaways to win free books (I have won several), it also gives you recommendations for other books (based on the ones you've already read).

I have been a member of Goodreads for almost a year, but have been active on it for only the past several months. I like it a lot. I like organizing all the books I've read and wish to read and pretend that lots of people look at it (although in all reality that's likely not the case). Whenever there's a book I'm interested in, I always see if it's listed on Goodreads so I can see the community reaction to it.

Don't know how I'd keep track of what I've read without Goodreads. Historical Fiction is one of my favorite genres, but sometimes the storylines are so similar that I forget which novel about, say Queen Elizabeth, that I've read already. Goodreads keeps order for me.

Highlights:
Recommendations -- This is a nice helpful feature for finding new books. (Though it does sometime recommends books I already have on my 'shelf'.)
Giveaways -- The giveaways are what keep me checking back often. I won 3 books last year in the span of 4 months!
2012 Reading Challenge -- I'm currently behind on reaching my goal of reading 100 books this year. So far I've submitted 57.
