I like it up to oct 08. I think Peter Pan and Pinnochio should be released BEFORE Snow White. I guess it could still change

I completly agree Mermaid Kelly!

Oh, and in addition please don't think I was talking about you specifically when I mentioned my thoughts on the Cinderella platinum release date. Actually, I do remember from reading many of your posts how positive you feel about Cinderella! :) I never thought you were being cruel at all.

Yes, it is a message forum and you should speak your mind but it was a thread celebrating Cinderella's release. I clicked on the link to read what people had to say and found that most people were complaining rather than celebrating. That was rather disappointing.
The biggest thing that got me was that people were actually surprised that Cinderella's date came first. Some people even think that Cinderella snatched/stole TLM's date. That not only isn't true but it also isn't fair to say. TLM was always going to come after Cinderellas release. Disney had it planned that way all along. I know that other websites and even people on this forum thought that TLM was going to have her platinum first but I never thought for a second that it was going to happen that way. Cinderella is coming out on dvd first for two reasons.
One: She hasn't been on dvd yet.
Two: 2006 marks the 50th anniversary for the Disneyland theme park. They have planned an event called Cinderellabration. For more information, visit this website. http://www.mouseplanet.com/more/mm040506avp.htm

Also, since I work for Disney I hear many things before they surface to the public but what I hear are about 50% of the time rumors. That being said I typically won't say anything for fear of it not being true. I knew if I said anything I might piss off any of the die hard TLM fans and I certainly didn't want to upset anyone or make anyone mad. I want this board to continue to be the fun and friendly place that I think it is.

Lastly, I will add that the schedule which Todd_star posted last was the exact same schedule I was shown last year, up until the 2007 mark. None of the employees I know have heard about anything past oct.06.
I also wanted to mention that Disney has been talking pretty heavily about abandoning the whole get litho/s free with pre-order of dvd release offer. I was told this about 6 months ago. The reason is that so little people buy from Disney Store anymore now that best buy and other stores charge 14.99 per dvd versus the normal 19.99 plus free litho which Disney offers. Hardly anyone pre-ordered Brother Bear and Sleeping Beauty. There was 3 unopened boxes left of lithos just sitting from our store which I had to throw away today (I managed to grab about 12 sets before they were trashed). Very few people pre-ordered any of the movies released recently. Even TLK's HUGE release didn't do as well as expected. Disney just can't see the profit in making the lithos if no-one wants to pre-order the dvd anymore. Sure, there are a handful of us litho-collectors but now it is easy to get them on ebay so no-one buys from Disney anymore. This is the main reason Alice's 2 disc edition was without a litho. My manager said that the last non-platinum dvds to have a litho deal will probably be Home on the Range and the Incredibles. He said that as far as he knows all of the Platinum releases will be accompained by either a single litho or a litho set. I know that only the catalog and online store offer the plus/pin set so it may or may not be offered in Oct. 2006. Even less people order via online and the catalog so if one of the offers is going to be scrapped, I'd say the plus/pin one will go first.

But for now, Don't give up hope. TLM is a HUGE release for Disney (behind TLK, BATB and Finding Nemo) and I'm sure that if the Disney stores are still alive in Oct. of 2006, the offer will be nice. :D!!!!

Ok, If you have made it this long Congratulations on getting through my latest novel.. lol :) I can't help but write a lot. Sorry! :D

No, I heard that it is going to be called the super-duper-uper-major-ultimate-complete-you'll-never-believe-what-we-can-say-and-do-to-make-you-want-to-buy-this-dvd-edition.

hehe. :) J/K I have no idea what Disney has up their sleeves. I hope it is really nice though, otherwise I will feel guilty about double-dipping.

Thank you for letting us know this, and I'm just sorry you didn't do it before. I've never gotten the lithos before but always liked to windowshop for them -- now with this news I'm going to try harder to get the Aladdin ones, especially since it's my favorite movie of all time. I won't be able to do that if DisneyStore doesn't let me order the gift set through them, though!!

Silver would be something, perhaps the "Signature Collection" or "Diamond Collection". :P We will keep getting additional editions of these titles, they will always find something in the vault so that they can say "Never Before Seen Footage". It's probably a sketch or 3 seconds of audio

I sure do love buying the new editions, the newer packaging and collections to keep up with. I am happy when they release 2 disc sets 8)

I'm thrilled that Cinderella is coming out. I like it and TLM about euqally, and both are in my top 5 Disney movies. When it comes down to it, though, I would rather that the new generation be reintroduced to Cinderella first, than TLM, so I think this is a good move on Disney's part.

Also, to add to what Cinderelly said, 2005 will be Cinderella's 55th anniversary, right? Another reason it makes sense.

I wish TLM would come out in Sprind '06, but I agree that fall is almost certain. After these two are out of the way, I am anticipating the rest equally, and will take them in any order. I just wish Bambi was the last one to come out, oh well.

I agree that it should be 3 a year, and maybe it will be if they continue to be successes. Summers don't seem to have nearly as good DVD releases, though. As for this posted schedule, I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Disney doesn't think that far in advance. That's not to say that what was reported isn't true, I'm sure it is. I just don't think Disney will stick with it.

Oh I hope so, Cinderelly. I hope we at least get a set of litho's for our Mermaid's platinum, if not the plush and pin as well.
Man, this is going to be bothering me every day now until I know for sure  I can be a little obsessive with my Disney dvd's, and I know that I'll be worring about this every day now

Hey I wonder what kind of bonus features we are going to get for Cinderella? I also wonder if any of the people who worked on the movie are still alive!? Does anyone know? Also I wonder if there's going to be a new song? I kind of doubt it, I don't think they would fiddle with the older movies, but you never know

Ilene Woods (voice of Cinderella) is still alive, as are June Foray (Lucifer), Lucille Bliss (Anastasia), William Phipps (Prince Charming), and Rhoda Williams (Drizella). As are Frank and Ollie, of course. They're all pretty old, but as a number of them took part in the 50th Anniversary Celebration a few years ago, hopefully they'll contribute to some substantial DVD extras. But I'm sure a Disney Channel star music video of "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" is a priority at this point.

I dont care when what is released so long as they all come out. I love them all. It would be crazy for Snow white to reemerge before the Peter Pan and Pinnochio. But every one willl be great, I have yet to be dissappointed with a platinum release

Plus there's lots that they could port over from the Laser Disc (although it seems to be Disney policy not to port, instead prefering to make lots of new "fluffy" features instead). Alice in Wonderland was the same, but very few of the supplements found their way onto the Masterpiece Edition.
Documentary "The making of Cinderella"

1922 Laugh-o-Gram version of Cinderella (complete motion footage)

1933 Silly Symphony version (unrealized) artwork

1940 Story Concepts

Sequence Breakdown and Storyboards for Introduction scene

Abandoned storyboard sequence for "The Music Lesson"

Abandoned storyboard sequence for "Cinderella Work Song"

Abandoned storyboard sequence for "Dancing on a Cloud"

Character designs for Cinderella, Stepmother, Stepsisters, Fairy Godmother, Prince, King, Duke, Lucifer, Mice, Bruno, Major, and Miscellaneous animals

Character design for Music Teacher (deleted character)

Preliminary Design Concepts
--Layouts and Backgrounds
--Live-Action Test Footage (actually, *stills only* from the live action sessions. The motion footage is missing.)

Clip from "The Mickey Mouse Club" with Helene Stanley (model for Cinderella, full motion clip from the show)

Production Photo Gallery

Trailers

Publicity materials: Posters, Lobby Cards, and 1950 pressbook

Merchandising

1950 Sunday Color Comic Strip.

Audio Supplements
-- "Cinderella" (demo)
-- "I'm In The middle of a Muddle" (demo)
-- "I Lost My Heart at the Ball" (demo for unused song)
-- "The Mouse Song" (demo for unused song)
-- "Sing a Little, Dream a Little" (demo for unused song)
-- "Dancing on a Cloud" (demo for unused song)
-- "The Dress My Mother Wore" (demo for unused song)
-- "The Face That I See In The Night" (demo for unused song)
-- "Village Store" (excerpt of radio broadcast announcing Ilene Woods' casting as the voice of Cinderella. She sings "When You Wish Upon A Star"), "Gulf Oil Presents" (excerpt of radio broadcast in which Ilene Woods is interviewed. She sings "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes"

Physical Supplements
-- A multi-image lithograph showing 4 stages in the character development process for Cinderella
-- a cute storybook telling the story of Cinderella in pictures and words, with a second section telling the story of the film's production
So the physical supplements seem to be the Gift set contents. :)

Personally I also want a detailed "Making of" on Cinderella II!

Wow, are those the extras of Cinderella LD? They're awesome. Many of these extras could be in the Platinum Edition DVD, IMHO. They're so similar to the Snow White ones.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

I hope they put on Daniel Beddingfield's version from DisneyMania2, which is AWESOME!!

Netty, those features are awesome! I hope they are all (and more) included on the DVD.

As this is the first antique platinum since Snow White, I expect the DVD to be on par with it. But we all know how likely that is. But ya never know!

Keep in mind though, that many younger children, are not aquanited with Cinderella. They may know who she is, and may have even seen the horrid sequel, but it's mostly parents who will be buying this dvd for their child to view for the first time, as well as the die hard Disney fans, and for that reason, I think Cinderella will be a killer platinum!!! also I think we can expect retrospective looks at the film by historians, similair to what was on the snow white dvd, as well as a look at how the restoration was done... :)

I, too, would like to see/hear Danial B's version of "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes". I really liked his song "If You're Not the One".

Anyway, I anticipate Cinderella being a killer Platinum, it is also one of Disney's staples, even more so than Snow White, in my opinion, so I expec5t they'll treat it very nice!

I rememeber when I was watching the Bonous features for Beauty in the Beast one of the historians syaing there was another song that had not been added it. I am not sure what it was called but he did say the name. So maybe thats the case for the movies that are going to be re-realsed.

Cinderella Platinum Edition

Post by ghost999 »

Rumor has it that Disney might be pushing up the release date of the Cinderella Platinum Edition. I think it was scheduled for '07. I read over on mouseplanet.com that someone received an online survey with 5 cover mock-ups to review. It seems odd that they would do that so far in advance unless they were thinking of releasing it early. The story is towards the bottom of this link. http://www.mouseplanet.com/parkupdates/ ... 040712.htm

I think it makes sense as Bambi is already planned to be released in march, leaving Cinderella to be released in October 05, which is already within Disneyland's 50th anniv. celebration window.
