Remaining Films

Does anyone think the remaining films of the Disney 51 will be all covered on Blu-Ray in 2013?

I actually don't consider the package films (including Winnie the Pooh), live-action and 3d films (Dinosaur, Bolt, Tangled, etc.) as part of the Disney Canon, so my list contains only 36. Having said that, the ones we still expect for 2013 are:

Peter Pan
The Sword in the Stone
The Jungle Book
Robin Hood
The Black Cauldron
Oliver and Company
The Little Mermaid
Aladdin
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Hercules
Mulan
The Emperor's New Groove
Lilo and Stitch

Only 13 left... and of these, 4 already have confirmed release dates for next year. Surely it isn't too much of a stretch to expect them all to come out in 2013. Aren't we going to have approximately this many Disney Blu-Ray releases this year alone?

Exactly. I fail to understand why my opinion on those god-awful CG films has caused such a stir anyway. That's not the matter at hand. I'd like to know your opinions about the future Blu-Ray releases of those 9 films.

These are my predictions for 2013, with everything remaining for 2014:

Saludos Amigos / The Three Caballeros
Peter Pan
101 Dalmatians
The Sword In The Stone
Robin Hood
Oliver And Company
The Little Mermaid
Aladdin
Mulan
Tarzan
Wreck-It Ralph

And yes, I do believe all of the 50+ Classics will be released on Blu-Ray, and by the end of 2014, by my estimate.

Only Chicken Little was godawful though. Lot of people would say Dinosaur as well, but at least that had great visuals and music.

They shouldn't even be brought up in the conversation right now, regardless of our personal opinions on them. As Disney's Divinity said, they've already been released on Blu-Ray. So, this year, how many of the 51 have been released or will be?

I believe I covered all of them. That's 13. Therefore, I think it's very possible we'll get the remaining 13 all next year.

I'm hoping that they see the marketability in maybe throwing out some double feature blu-rays like Three Caballeros/Saludos Amigos, Make Mine Music/Melody Time, and Fun and Fancy Free/Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.

By themselves I don't think each would sell well, but paired up they might. MMM/MT would be able to feature Peter and the Wolf, Casey, Johnny Appleseed, Pecos Bill, and Donald Duck. That's not too bad. And FaFF/AIaMT would have Mickey, Mr. Toad, and Ichabod on it (I never thought Bongo was all that great).

And for the record I'm also not a fan of their CG films except Meet the Robinsons. Bolt has it's moments but doesn't have the heart that Meet the Robinsons does. And I wish Dinosaurs had lived up to its teaser trailer instead of having the dinosaurs have creepy cartoon eyes and talk. Plus there's that whole Land Before Time thing.

ouch. Chicken Little was the only one of those that didnt do anything for me, but c'mon, Tangled, which is about as close to "classic Disney" as Parental Control will allow?

By the Way, if you're going by nostalgia, dont. Even the best movies will disappoint you. Just look at Dusty.
