The thing that disappoints me as far as the story changes go, is that TSQ could actually be made into a beautiful love story if they aged Gerda and Kai. Not to mention, it would’ve been kind of empowering to finally have a film where the girl saves the guy (with a kiss, no less; the equivalent of the prince of older films). Instead, now the girl is traveling to fight/save a sister who's cursed her and/or her land. And, yes, that’s nice and I’m sure it’d be emotional, and it would be great if they gave us a villainess in the grey area (usually, the only villains who end up in a grey area are male), but it’s in no way as good as the former to me, personally. It just seems a waste with the story they have in their hands.
And I find it so odd that people actually like the title, Frozen!
As if it's somehow related to the story, and not just based on the setting/climate of the film. It's no more relevant, to me, than "Icy" or "Blizzard" or "Melted" would be, and no less stupid.

The girl saves the boy story isn't as new and refreshing as it seems anymore.I actually think this version is a little more original and gives the Snow Queen more background and character.Mainly because I think the Snow Queen always seemed to be a flat character.Disney's Divinity wrote:The thing that disappoints me as far as the story changes go, is that TSQ could actually be made into a beautiful love story if they aged Gerda and Kai. In one of the synopsis, they mention the "frozen heart" of the Snow Queen. I think the double meaning is why people seem to have less of a problem with it.Disney's Divinity wrote:And I find it so odd that people actually like the title, Frozen! As if it's somehow related to the story, and not just based on the setting/climate of the film. ^ That's just reaching to me.
You're right. Disney has made that movie so many times! There's Mulan and....Pocahontas, maybe? Neither of which were fairy tales, where it would be refreshing.jazzflower92 wrote: The girl saves the boy story isn't as new and refreshing as it seems anymore.

Michael Giaimo is the art director on Frozen. He and I discussed some of his work on the picture before his TAG interview but not during it. (The studio wouldn't have liked it, so we kept mum.)
The settings and art work for Frozen (up on various studio walls) is lilting.
As we've noted previously, Frozen was originally developed as a hand-drawn feature, but Richard Ross shelved it. Then, after Tangled hit the ground at a gallop, the feature was reactivated as a CG feature. (Nothing wrong with Princess movies if the movie-going public flocks to see them.)
I don't really how most of them can be considered to be positives or negatives at this early stage. We have no idea how those elements will be implemented yet.Sotiris wrote:Negative:

To be fair, it is a story that Disney has been trying to adapt for years and up to now they've been unable to come up with something that they were happy with. They might have tried the beautiful love story between Kai and Gerda that you mention and found that it didn't work in the story that Disney want to tell. Given the amount of times that The Snow Queen has been in and out of development at the studio, I'm still half-expecting some kind of delay or disruption.Disney's Divinity wrote:It just seems a waste with the story they have in their hands.
I agree. For me it's a situation where Disney can't really win; if the film was titled The Snow Queen, plenty would complain that the film is nothing like the story it was adapted from.DisneyDude2010 wrote:Plus the names changing. That's fine it's only loosely based on The Snow Queen.
From what we know of the film so far, I see plenty of positives. I like the choice of composers; I think they did a good job on Winnie the Pooh and it will be interesting to see what they come up with given that these types of films at WDAS are usually Alan Menken's territory. I like the sound of all the characters, including the sidekicks although I know that a lot of people aren't really fans of Disney's comedic sidekicks in general. I also like the choice of setting; Norway is a beautiful country and the visual aspects of the film we've heard about sound brilliant.
We're not going to Guam, are we?

No. They said Norway was the inspiration but the movie will not be set somewhere specifically. It's set "somewhere cold in Europe".DisneyAnimation88 wrote:I also like the choice of setting; Norway is a beautiful country and the visual aspects of the film we've heard about sound brilliant.

Don’t misunderstand me--I am not Disney Duster. I don’t care at all if they make changes to the original story (the name changes, for instance, I was expecting and hoping for), I just don’t like changes that, to me, are for the worse, and most of these have been. B&tB and TLM both also have long histories with Disney, but most of the changes were for the better (such as turning the sea witch into the villain or giving the Beast cursed servants). At this point, a delay would be wonderful, considering I seriously doubt the story is any better than it ever was, only they want to pump out another CG fairy tale quickly following Tangled's success. It kind of reminds me of Pocahontas through Hercules, where those stories were significantly altered to fit the winning formula of previous successes against all odds.DisneyAnimation88 wrote:To be fair, it is a story that Disney has been trying to adapt for years and up to now they've been unable to come up with something that they were happy with. To me, the only positives so far will likely be the music, Idina Menzel (which is really a subset of the music), and the sibling element. And the name changes. Everything else about this has been uninteresting, or is still up in the air.

Yeah, I completely understand what you're saying and the concerns that you have. We all have our own opinions and none of us can be sure how Frozen will turn out until we actually see it but hopefully it will surprise you and turn out to be a film that you enjoy.Disney's Divinity wrote:Don’t misunderstand me--I am not Disney Duster. I'm glad we agree. Just to be clear in case I gave this impression, I wasn't challenging the things that you listed as positive or negative. I hope I didn't give that impression in the way that I worded what I wrote.Sotiris wrote:Yes, I'm fairly certain the visuals will be great. That's why I've listed the visuals as a positive.

Lots of new story info has come out regarding Frozen, and everyone has their own idea of what Frozen will look/sound like. Some positive, some negetive. What we all have to remember is nothing has been offically released by Disney regarding Frozen. So i'm withholding my own opinion until I see character designs, a trailer & music samples! Once those come out, then things can offically move foward because we will finally know what this film looks & sounds like. Until then, the wait continues..........

Dude that might be ages way.DisneyEra wrote:So i'm withholding my own opinion until I see character designs, a trailer & music samples!
Personally I think all the information received so far is the legit, and I'm sure everything will turn out great!
Do you still think the film will have a love interesting between Kristoff and Anna?

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. - Walt Disney
Your right about it be ages away, but considering what we went through with Tangled, the long wait for Frozen is expected! I'm hopinf for atleast a charcter image of Anna & Kristoff sometime soon! Isn't that Disney Animation tour coming next weekend that's supose to reveal some stuff for Frozen? As for Anna & Kristoff, it's seem legit they will be the new DIsney Couple. How will their main song be like? Also, will the Sonw Queen have a love intrest? Can't wait to see her & Anna meet face to face on screen for the first time! Long wait from Disney? Bring it on! When your intrested in future WDAS films, Patience is a must!!DisneyDude2010 wrote:Dude that might be ages way.DisneyEra wrote:So i'm withholding my own opinion until I see character designs, a trailer & music samples!
