Couldn't even get the forums to load hardly at all between 2 and 4 today. Sometimes they would appear, but then you couldn't read any post. Also, a new thing has started happening, this page like a search engine type page shows up saying it can't find Ultimate Disney and there are lists of different topics you can look up.

Sounds like that might be something your browser or ISP is doing rather than the site itself?
In any event, as can be seen from my 4 frustrated posts, which were actually just one attempt to post, I too experienced the totally screwed-up service earlier this afternoon.
You guys are great for sticking around - I just wish there was something I can do to make it right. It was running without a flaw earlier today, so maybe it will be like that permanently soon. Let's friggin' hope so.

This sounds like the server was actually timing-out during the initial connection to the page or duing a page download. Microsoft Internet Explorer shows a MSN search page should this happen.
Based on experience, I would say this is likely to happen if the server hosting the site either has too many connections or it's pipeline bandwidth is flooded serving over pages from other sites (I would imagine that the server hosts a number of websites as well as the UltimateDisney one).
As to why this always seems to happen on the forum, I cannot say. Occasionally images on the main site seem to time out too (replaced with the red cross).

I think some of the problems today (yesterday? Depending on where in the world you are? ) were the results of another unreleated problem for a short amount of time.
But I could be wrong - it could just be the same error on steroids! Today could just have been particularly bad.
Again I don't know why the forum seems to be affected much, much more than the main site.
Luke do you know if the forum directory in the site is a virtual directory to another machine?

Don't really know what that means.
Basically just because the forum folder is a subdirectory of UltimateDisney (ie ultimateDisney.com/forum) it doesn't have to be a sub-folder of the Ultimate Disney on the server - indeed, it doesn't even have to be on the same server.
It probably will be located elsewhere as the php needs certain rights in order to execute the hosting company may not be willing to give to normal HTML customers.
The easiest way of finding out is when you ftp your page updates to the server, is there a forum subfolder in the ftp client?
Never had any problems with the forum until today. Around 1 CST I couldn't access the forum at all. I'm not sure how long that lasted though because I was gone most of the afternoon. It's working fine for me now though.

I believe they're all on the same server. I don't have to change anything in the FTP client when moving from the forum files to the main site files.
