There are no recent news about Toy Story 4 as far as I know. Based on the info we got so far, I still think a new feature is coming in addition to the two TV specials.
DisneyAnimation88 wrote:I've said this before but Pixar has three original films in active development that, at the moment
They have more than that (not officially announced though.) There's the Untitled Film Set in Venice and the Untitled Sci-Fi Film by Mark Andrews. Of course, there are more projects in development we haven't heard of yet.
PatrickvD wrote:Yeah the earliest we'll see this is 2017.
According to The Hollywood Reporter it's tentatively slated for a 2016 release.
Hollywood Reporter wrote:Victoria Strouse, who wrote the 2008 Black list script The Apostles of Infinite Love, is writing the script and Lindsey Collins is producing. A 2016 release date is being eyed.
However, I think it'll probably be a 2017 release. 2016 will be reserved for Day of the Dead which has not been given a release date yet. Some sites had erroneously reported that it is slated for 2015. However, I highly doubt that because they reserve Fall releases for WDAS films. So unless there is gap in WDAS pipeline, Pixar won't be releasing two films in the same year.

I said the same about Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 and was proven wrong on both counts. If they're done well sequels can be just as good as the film that they follow, sometimes they can be better; The Dark Knight is a perfect example of that. Monsters, Inc. is definitely a hard act to follow but Monsters University might prove to be just as good, just like Finding Nemo 2 might.

I wouldn't be too surprised if that were to be the case but I wouldn't mind it either.

Exactly. I understand why some aren't entirely happy that Pixar make sequels but it isn't like that's all they're doing, there are still plenty of original films in the pipeline to look forward to.

Why the hell is Toy Story 4 trending Worldwide? :?

Theres this new article just posted
'Finding Nemo 2,' 'Toy Story 4' & 'Monsters Inc. 2' Plans In The Works For Pixar & Disney
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/364103/ ... nemo-2.htm
This Toy Story 4 thing is most probably confusion with the upcoming shorts!
This is ridiculous! And why Is everybody acting like Monsters 2 is brand new News!?!?

I can't find anything that corroborates what the article says about Toy Story being greenlit. Pete Docter's "The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind" is on the slate for 2015 so I can't see Toy Story 4 being released then; if it were, I think we might have heard something concrete about it before now. I wouldn't believe too much in that article, it seems to be under the impression that Monsters University has only just been greenlit and doesn't use the film's official title, something that was confirmed over a year ago. It also doesn't make any mention of the three original films that we know are currently on the slate at Pixar.

According to DisneyMoviesList.com, "this project is currently still in development. We do know that Tom Hanks, Michael Keaton and Joan Cusack will be providing voice work," and "Toy Story 4" is expected to be released sometime in 2015. To the youngsters awaiting it's release, that probably sounds like infinite -- and beyond.

It's nothing, just unsubstantiated rumour from an unofficial website. As far as we know Toy Story 4 has not been greenlit and is not expected to be released in 2015, until Pixar confirm otherwise then there is no reason to believe anything else. The actors are all signed to possible sequels and have worked on the Toy Story shorts so if and when Toy Story 4 is announced, it's safe to say that they will all be a part of it.

Because Monsters University is a prequel and not the sequel to Monsters, Inc.!

If Pixar wants to continue their franchises these are better alternatives:

-Specials
-Video Games
-Comics

At this point, their remaning stand alone films and Finding Nemo don't need sequels! The only sequel I want to see is a Roger Rabbit sequel (done right of course). I just hope that this is not set in stone.

Ugh, just can't wait for people accusing Disney for starting this sequel-frenzy.

I guess we should've seen this from the begining, Pixar's spent more than a decade focusing on getting their original 8 movie plan into production. After they completed this, it seemed like they've been struggling onto what to do next, with some success (Up - was this part of the 8?) and some failures (Newt). Work on some sequels seem to have given them more time to develop fully fleshed out ideas (Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Monsters University), and now they've developed a healthy looking platter of original ideas.

I doubt this suggestion has any validity, because obviously there's more than one creative mind at Pixar and Pixar does accept input from out-of-studio directors, and i'm not too familiar with this 8 movie mytho. But from an outsiders view it just seems that way.

Please please please please PLEASE tell me that Finding Nemo 2 and Toy Story 4 aren't for real! As much as I love sequels, Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3 just aren't open-ended, so a sequel to both wouldn't really work. :(

That this will suck more than Chicken Little and this is Stanton's punishment requirements to make up for John Carter's epic bombing?

He does make a good point (all the folks at Pixar do!). Maybe something is going to get cleared up for the better...I hope.

Some of those titles made laugh!

Anyway, hopefully, this sequel doesn't happen. But if it does, all I have to say is this:

Don't count on on it any time soon. Pixar is very secretive when it comes to on the record stuff. Still I take this to mean these rumors are either completely false or at least misleading. Maybe they have another tv special in the works similar to the upcoming Toy Story ones. Gotta give the new Canadian studio something to cut their teeth on, no?

I think it means that the sequel is in the early stages of development hence the "nothing to see here now" as in 'for the time being'. That it's too early for people to be freaking out about it. Just because something is in development, doesn't necessarily mean it will end up being produced. Things may go astray.

If the news of a sequel were a complete fabrication he would have denied it flat out. He didn't. Perhaps the report wasn't entirely accurate.

Its such a beautiful film; I don't think there is a need for another story.

A short perhaps, but I have no desire to see they do a not that great sequel. On the other hand, it might be marvellous ?
