This way, I won't loose any money while I can still enjoy a complete collection of the official DAC canon.

Awesome news! My DAC Blu-ray collection grows. This release lands on my B-Day too
I thought this movie was OK, not the best but not the worst either. Home on the Range was one of the first DAC's that was available in HDX (1080p) on Vudu, so hopefully Atlantis, Mouse Detective, and Black Cauldron get surprise releases this year too. Most of the Disney catalogue is available in HDX on Vudu now BTW, I recently watched Heavy Weights and Lilo and Stitch and they both looked amazing, L&S more. I streamed a 2 minute preview of The Hunchback of Notredame in HDX and it is the only one of the animated classics that didn't looked up to par with the restoration that the rest have available. It appeared to me that they restored the film from a different source than the CAPS files (if that makes any sense).

Great, nothing new again. I wonder if the audio commentary and the 'Art Review' extras will be included. They weren't listed on the packaging of the original DVD release either.

What did you expect. They're rushing these releases before Blu-Ray gets phased-out for streaming.Sotiris wrote:Source: http://disneydvd.disney.go.com/home-on-the-range.htmlBonus Features

HOTR has always been and always will be my guilty pleasure among Disney's 'bad films'. The negativity is a bit over the top every now and then.
And especially with two excellent traditionally animated features having been mad since, I'm glad it isn't being crapped on anymore with the whole 'I can't believe 2D went out with this piece of shit'...

Do you have a source/link? Not that I don't believe you, I'd just like to read more info about it!singerguy04 wrote:
Atlantis is one of those! It's been announced to have a Fall 2012 release date with Brother Bear.
I've never seen this but I ordered it through DMC, it was just an additional $10 when you buy Treasure Planet combo pack (for $29.95+10 = $39.95). I'm not expecting much but I can't imagine it's that awful. I hated Chicken Little and would be really surprised if it sunk that low!

Agreed. I think a lot of the negativity was also because of the announcement of this being the last animated feature to use traditional animation. There seemed to be a lot of resentment at the time about that and I believe that a good portion of that resentment was channeled into over the top negativity for this film. Proof of this is how this film is very seldom mentioned without that announcement being mentioned also. Chicken Little gets some of that as well for being the first film created with Disney standing by that announcement. Do I consider those two a couple of Disney's weaker efforts? Absolutely. Am I able to still enjoy them? Absolutely. I proudly have these on my shelf next to my other Disney films. They are all part of the Disney legacy, warts and all.PatrickvD wrote:HOTR has always been and always will be my guilty pleasure among Disney's 'bad films'. I don't think they're going to be phased out. There's room in this world for both. There are more than enough people who want nothing to do with streaming.Barbossa wrote:What did you expect. They're rushing these releases before Blu-Ray gets phased-out for streaming.

Blu-ray.com Review: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Home-on-t ... 56/#Review
Oh dear. It looks like the AV presentation isn't quite perfect. This doesn't bode well for all the other CAPS films that have yet to be released on the format.

Wow, judging from the caps in that review, I'm kinda shocked how bad it looks... It's like an upscaled dvd at best! They should have given it 2/5 and not 3/5...Jules wrote:Blu-ray.com Review: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Home-on-t ... 56/#Review

Sad, especially because I don't see Disney giving this a second chance on Blu...

It's not that bad. It'll probably look quite good on an HDTV - just not as crisp as other Disney Blu-rays.271286 wrote:Wow, judging from the caps in that review, I'm kinda shocked how bad it looks... It's like an upscaled dvd at best! They should have given it 2/5 and not 3/5...

it looks terrible. the line-art is all fuzzy, there is aliasing...Jules wrote:It's not that bad. It'll probably look quite good on an HDTV - just not as crisp as other Disney Blu-rays.

To each their own but the fact that you don't see it, hardly classifies the rest of us as drama queensSWillie! wrote:Drama queens. Yeah, it's not fantastic and it most certainly should be better, but it hardly looks "terrible".
