Characters you wished they advertised more?
Who are some characters you wish they merchandised more? They can be characters who get put on stuff but sparingly or characters who are just forgotten.

Mulan, Pocahontas and any character from Hercules. Hades probably gets the most attention as a part of the villain line, but Hercules and Megara are completely ignored. I wish Aladdin was advertised more than Jasmine. He’s a better character and the star of the film. I also wish King Triton would get more merchandise (figurines, etc.), although he does pretty well for a side character. Maybe Yzma, too.
I almost wish Mulan and Pocahontas were featured prominently in the princess line, just so there would be more merchandise of them. I like both of them. I hope Tiana doesn’t end up going the same way, because I like her, too.

The characters I wish were advertised more? How about pretty much anybody who isn't a Princess?
I wish Quasimodo, Clopin, Esmeralda and especially Frollo got more attention. Same with Hercules and Meg and Hades, too. And don't get me started on Professor Ratigan and Basil! (My poor Professor hardly ever gets ANYTHING made of him...the recent vinylmation nearly made me dance with glee! Aside from a small Disneystore plush, I believe that's all the merch he's ever received.)
I wish Gaston got more merchandise, too. (I have a friend who is obsessed with him and trying to find her birthday gifts is a pain in the ass because there is so little merch surrounding him.)
Just the villains in general, I guess. It seems the only ones who get any stuff are the Princess' villains and Cruella and Captain Hook. Everyone else, aside from the occasional vinylmation or WDCC figure, gets swept to the side.
I love Sir Hiss from Robin Hood, too.

How about Flounder, from Little Mermaid?
I was recently at California Adventure, and outside of the Little Mermaid ride there is a Little Mermaid store. Not ONE Flounder item! I think they had two tiny pins where Ariel was with him...
Some more Aladdin merchandise would be nice... and I dont mean action figures!
I have to admit I was thrilled to see a Triton action figure at a Disney Store recently...
But yeah...a little less princess, a little more everything else. They are alienating boys!

They didn't even have a Flounder plush? I thought those were still commonly made.
As for me, I want more Scrooge stuff. Occasionally they'll make a hard-to-find or expensive statue or something with him in it, and Hallmark will have a Christmas ornament with him once every few years, but I want more. It's not like "Mickey's Christmas Carol" and DuckTales are the only thing to involve him- Scrooge McDuck has a very rich history to the Disney name, and his comics are still being made today.
Roger Rabbit would be great too. Every now and then I see a pin or T-shirt with Jessica Rabbit on it at the parks in Orlando. Roger? Nada. Maybe there's more with him in Anaheim, where he still has his ride, but I can't tell you the last time I saw something related to him.

Hmmmm... I think they DID have a Flounder plush. BUT it was tiny and really cheap looking. When the platinum edition came out, I bought it at best buy and got a free flounder plush (other choice was sebastian) with it. THAT plush was nicer than the one at the store!
Back in the 90s they made beautiful flounder plushes (I still have mine that I bought in '93). Oh well.
And Avaitor... you are right. There really isn't much Roger Rabbit merchandise. But there are legal issues when it comes to that, since Disney doesnt fully own the characters...they are somewhat shared with Amblin Entertainment (now I assume part of Dreamworks) and the writer of the original book. Its a bit complicated, and I believe, costly for Disney to make merchandise for Roger.
A note: the Roger Rabbit ride at disneyland is ok...doesnt link to the movie much...

Yeah, I understand that, but you'd think that they would still try to make more merch for Roger and Jessica considering how big nostalgia has been in the past few years. I also don't think Amblin cares that much about the franchise and characters anymore, so that wouldn't be an issue.
I could just be way off though.

Avaitor... are you kidding? When it comes to ownership and copyright, movie studios are ruthless!!! Ironically, one of the biggest accomplishments of ROger Rabbit was managing to get a lot of competing studios to let Disney use their characters.
As for Ratatouille and Up.... both of which are among my fav films...
They are a bit tough to sell, merchandise wise. I happened to work at the Disney Store when Ratatouille was released, and I remember it was tough to sell the merchandise to parents. Giving kids stuff with grey rats on them... is a tough sell. And the remote controlled Remy even made me cringe at times...
I think there should be more UP and Ratatouille merchandise... but it would probably be more adult oriented... which is a tough sell in itself.

Are you kidding me? They've got Chernabog plushies!PixarFan2006 wrote:Maybe for an older audience, but I don't think it would go so well with younger kids.Kraken Guard wrote:The Horned King.
Poor guy doesn't get any credit...
If they consider villains like Scar, Hades, Maleficent and Cruella as the cute and cuddly sorts, I'm sure they'd be able to make the Horned King work. He'd look cute as a plushie!

Also, don't get me started on Jessica Rabbit...

I agree with all of these suggestions. I would also like to see the Blue Fairy, Fairy Godmother, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather be apart of the fairy line because they are......actual fairies. Tinkerbell is a pixie NOT a fairy! Besides why did they have to create new characters when they already have fairies they could have used.
They should also do a heros line for the boys with Peter Pan, Aladdin, Hercules, Tarzan, Flynn, Quasimodo.

Call me nuts, but, Katrina from Ichabod & Mr. Toad. I know she looks identical to Cinderella but that's Disney's fault- not mine. She and Alice should be princesses. Or a new princess crime-fighting duo, I haven't decided yet.
Then, Pocahontas, because I think she really lends herself to advertising.
I personally think Bernard and Bianca would look a little awkward in Disney marketing- if they tried to squeeze them in in new drawings of Disney characters. But the movie really does deserve more attention somehow.

I'm going to add Timothy Q. Mouse to my list as well. I love that little guy. Truly one of Disney's greatest heroes (in my book).
I think the Muses from Hercules deserve more recognition. (They were, after all, some of Disney's first major black animated characters that weren't, you know, horrible stereotypes a la Sunflower.)

I dunno, weren't the Muses in mythology servants to the other gods? I always thought that was a huge can of worms waiting to happen, but thankfully it never did.ProfessorRatigan wrote:I think the Muses from Hercules deserve more recognition. But, yeah, I do love the Muses.

I'm so pleased about that! Plus they are going to reanimate old Oswald sketches [1]Barbossa wrote:Oswald! At least he got his own gas station in DCA now.
And I've heard rumors that Oswald will be part of the Storybook Circus as part of the new Fantasyland Expansion!
But I would love the Hercules character and The Emperors New Groove characters to have more merchandise.
Also I wish Disney would produce more merchandise for The Disney Hero's Franchise and The Disney Villians Franchise!!
