I also think Pixar's Brave will be a bit of a deconstruction on the Rebellious Princess archtype. From what I have seen it will show what happens when pride and selfishness rules one's decisions.
That's what I think, too. Which I like on one hand, but on the other I don't think rebellious always means "proud and selfish." And I can't think it's that selfish of Merida to not want to be a part of an arranged marriage.
I also think it's funny that the claws come out over one mellow review, like getting pissed off because you got an A and not an A+. Pixar fans are not fierce at all.
Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
Sweet, they did one for Father's day.I am just glad they did it because Fergus really does seem like a great dad and Merida is really a daddy's girl and it shows.I am happy that Merida is a princess character who has both her father and mother living and has been raised by them from childhood to her teen years.
I am feeling this movie does not deserve that low rating because even Madagascar 3 is higher than that.Which is telling me these reviewers have a real big stick up their butts.
Yeah. Already they're saying the reason this movie isn't all that hot is because it's predictable. Yeah? So? It's OK for Disney and Dreamworks to go into this territory and yet for Pixar to do it it's just utter blasphemy?!!? They seriously think that a third movie to one of the worst animated movies is better than this?!!?

It just seems like in that review whining about how its a worn torn cliche instead of really seeing what is positive about the movie as well because even cliches can be made good with the right hands. These reviews seem to go between complaining how it should focus more on girl power and then complain again when it does focus on it.
I have tickets to see an advanced screening of Brave in 3D for tonight. I always try and see Pixar and Disney films (well, Disney animated films) in theatres. I haven't watched a single trailer for this, and only roughly know what it's about, so I can go in without being too opinionated. As long as it doesn't turn out like Cars 2 and I'll be happy!
