Aw thanks. Well, I can't help but hope and dream for good things to come to my favorite movie anyway...

It's because Disney wants people to buy the more expensive version of John Carter, the 3D one, if they spend more money, Disney will give you disc artwork. Disney's pretty careless, unrespectable, and evil these days. Though I'd shell out extra money for Cinderella disc artwork, it's just that it should be on every release. By the way I wish your name wasn't such an...errr...offensive one. You are able to change it if you ask the moderator, just so you know.

The Little Mermaid always seems to fall slapdab in the middle of the cycle, just when they stop trying very hard. I remember they used to do so much for the Platinum Editions, but by TLM that had stopped (I had so wanted a nice box set like those for TLK and Aladdin). And so it'll happen again, I guess. At least it's getting a rare theatrical release this time.

Aw. Well actually The Little Mermaid will almost def get a trilogy collector's set and lots of books and merchandise and the theatrical release will probably give quite a bit of extra attention, and thus effort, to it too. Heck, since it's 3D I guess that means it will get disc art, won't it? Haha. I wouldn't be jealous of Cinderella's jewery box though, and I'm not sure about Cinderella's bonus features either. Seems like not enough to do with the film and more to do with ads for Princess stuff in Disney World and Tangled. :(

I find it hard to believe this is the reason... No body knows what the discs are going to look like before purchase. Not even the hardcore fans knew that it was going to lack disc art, so such a minor detail can't be used as an incentive to buy the 3D version in this case. At any rate, disc art is the least of the consumers' and fans' worries at this point. It's disappointing, but not surprising and doesn't affect my decision to buy a movie in any way.

It seems wildly unlikely that that's actually the case. I can't think of anyone who would actually be swayed to buy the 3D version just to get disc art. If so, they deserve to have their money milked from them.

There's been no preview pictures showing the 3D version having disc art?

If that isn't the reason, and you guys can't come up with one, then I dunno.

I'm still stunned that Disney thinks 3D is the way to be.

Yeah, it's astounding seeing as how people are extremely willing to shell out more money for it.

/sarcasm

Is that really surprising? 3D makes money.

not to mention the facts that scorsese, lucas, cameron, and to lesser extent Spielberg and zemeckis think that 3D's the way to be.
