Yea they bought it. Like they bought ESPN. It's still not Disney's own thing they should put on their own cover.

xxhplinkxx wrote:lol Did you all conveniently forget that Disney bought Marvel? And it makes perfect sense it would be on the cover. The Avengers is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. And it's easily gonna be a HUUUUGE cash cow for Disney. More so than Brave. Not saying Brave isn't gonna do extremely well, but Avengers is on a whole other level.
Agreed, but I feel like this is all the more reason to put Brave on the cover. The Avengers is going to make a ridiculous amount of money at this point, even if they stopped advertising for it today. Plus, by the time the magazine comes out the Avengers will already be out! I think putting Brave on the cover would have been a much more effective marketing strategy.

Were you against the Muppets being on the cover a couple of issues back?

It's all about synergy. Marvel was a big purchase for Disney, and it's about time they started to exploit it more. The upcoming release of The Avengers is the perfect chance for them to.

Although I can understand why you guys are upset that they didn't go with Brave. The media is far more obsessed with Avengers than Pixar's next flick, and it already has a lot of other cover stories. But hey whatever will help sell for D23.

I loved the article on Disneyland Paris' 20th Anniversary in the new D23 magazine. I hope to go either there or Tokyo DL in 2015.

Avengers Patches

Post by faspadafora »

I would love to collect a full set of these patches if anyone is not that interested in theirs (I have Black Widow so far). Please contact me and I am sure we can work something out. I would also be interested in a complete set if someone finds them for sale at a D23 event I would be happy to reimburse them.

I also have an D23 Adventureland patch from the previous set available for trade.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

NeverLand, have you received the new D23 magazine yet? If so, would it be possible to scan for us the Brave article?

Magazine inquiry

Post by circusbass »

I have been looking for the summer 2010 d23 magazine with Buzz Lightyear on the cover. Does anyone have an unopened one they would want to part with? I would be willing to purchase it or maybe trade something for it. I would be most grateful! Also why does the club offer the magazine holder for 2010 that hold 8 issues? I only count 7 issues![/list]

I was reading up on the Destination D: 75 Years of Disney Animated Features, and this panel especially caught my eye.
Hearing Voices: A Salute to Disney Character Voice Artists

Meet the artists behind the voices. We put a spotlight on the many men and women who have supplied some of the most familiar voices ever to grace movies screens. This unique reunion of Disney character voice talent highlights some of the great voices of the past as well. Our roster of Disney character voice talent stars include (to date—more to be confirmed over the next few weeks!):
• Dick Jones—Voice of Pinocchio (Pinocchio, 1940)
• Kathryn Beaumont—Voice of Alice (Alice in Wonderland, 1951) and Wendy Darling (Peter Pan, 1953)
• Lisa Davis—Voice of Anita (One Hundred and One Dalmatians, 1961)
• David Frankham—Voice of Sergeant Tibbs (One Hundred and One Dalmatians, 1961)
• Bruce Reitherman—Voice of Mowgli (The Jungle Book, 1967) and Christopher Robin (Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, 1966)
Chris Sanders—Stitch (Lilo & Stitch, 2002)
Check out the last one in particular, which I bolded for you. Pretty cool, huh?[/b]

Would have been cool if it was Finding Nemo cover to promote the upcoming release of Finding Nemo 3D.

I'm sorry, but I would disagree . . . IMO, an entire new land at a Disney park (and a pretty impressive one from what I hear) makes for a better cover story than the re-release of a film most of us own on DVD (even if it was a great film).

I have a question about the Destination D event.

Can D23 members not going to the event buy the merchandise? The official event program lists Friday 3:30 – 9:30pm as "Event Merchandise Open" and Saturday 7 – 8 am as well. I can't find anywhere on the D23 website that says non-Destination D (D23) members can't purchase merch.

I'm asking because I'm going to be at Disneyland from Thurs – Fri and I could make those two times work. (I was soo close to attending the event, but it just wasn't going to happen.) If the merch is available I will add a stop to the Disneyland hotel to my plans.
