Yesterday was the final day of classes. I now have my B. A. in English, with high school licensure!
It’s been a long five years--and Student Teaching was honestly the biggest struggle I’ve ever went through--but I’m in such a good mood right now, I had to share the news. Life is good.
Now, to job hunting! I can't wait to have a classroom of my own.

Working with classrooms of children was one of the toughest, yet most rewarding experience I've ever gone through. I haven't worked much with the older kids/teens but I imagine you have a wonderful set of experiences ahead of you.
I have no doubt being a teacher is hard work--sometimes unfairly difficult. That said, I knew that when I started, so that's the good thing. I have a great amount of empathy for teenagers, even when they annoy me (because it's natural to get exhausted), which is why I'm not really worried about the down sides.
I had considered being a nurse for a while, but ultimately decided that English is what I love and teaching is really the only consistent job you could use a B. A. in English for anyway (see Avenue Q).

I had no idea English was what you really loved, or that you thought you'd like teaching (and teenagers!!) so much, or that you were this close to finishing!
Well, I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you really do love it. I feel like you will. But if you don't, get out of there! I've seen too many teachers who I don't why the hell they still teach, they seem to discover too late that they hate it (or they hate the kids) but like they thought they were stuck to deal with it till they retire.
But I think you will like it. Here's to hoping, and that you find a job sooon! But congratulations your college is all over and you're on your way to...a...career!!!!
The graduation is today, actually, but I don’t plan to go because I’m not sitting around for 5+ hours. Still, I graduated with Summa Cum Laude, with Highest Honors. My college GPA turned out much better than my high school one.
I believe this is the first time in 18 years I don't have to look forward to school next Fall... It's very bittersweet.
