Are they seriously putting this out in widescreen when it's not supposed to be ?
Think about this. Once bread becomes toast, you can't make it back into bread.

Uhm, where does it say it'll be widescreen?
Cinderella is presented in its 1.37:1 original aspect ratio, while Cinderellas 2 and 3 have 1.78:1 widescreen transfers. All three films have received 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks, and the original Cinderella also comes with its original theatrical sound mix on a 1.0 DTS-HD Master Audio track.

I think I missed that the DVD features were moving over. I'd like to see if this is true, or it they are counting that stinking "virtual vault" thing for this? If it is the latter, I'm keeping my DVD's!

all the trailers feauturing the cinderella shots are not widescreen. Think this is wrong information as it wasnt filmed using technerama so am doubtful for widescreen release

And besides that, Cinderella was released in 1950 which was during the pre-53 era. Starting in 1954, they would start showing cartoons in widescreen for theaters when they were made in full screen to begin with (Cinemascope shorts being the only obvious exception and now these days, cartoons are made in widescreen).

But the new stuff really isn't much. I already have both Cinderella II and Cinderella III. So pretty much, I already have the Blu-Ray technically with the two sequels and the gift set.

Right. I forgot about the sequels. I take it they will be released individually right?

There's no mention of it yet, but it'd surprise me if they didn't release the Blu-ray with both sequels and the two DVD copies as a combo pack somewhere down the road.

Are you kidding SpringHeelJack? Isn't what you just said exactly what the collector's jewelry box holds?

I decided to put the special gold cover's oval in the center, with the title above, and I added the texture from the Sleeping Beauty steelbook/collector's cover.

Here's the first one:

I chose to remove the image, for Disney, just in case they wouldn't like me posting such things.

I posted one in between the two but nevermind I removed it I think it was bad lol. So here's just what I did to the original Cinderella 3-Disc colors:

I chose to remove the image, for Disney, just in case they wouldn't like me posting such things.

I personally would choose either that one above, or the first one with the Sleeping Beauty darker gold colors, it goes really well with the deep colors of the picture in the oval (like Wondy said) but I HATE the texture, it needs to be a much prettier gold texture they would have had in the 1700's/1800's as opposed to Sleeping beauty's medieval type. Or just the same texture they had on the Cinderella's film's storybook if that book was gold or if that texture would be possible on a gilded book.

They really should move the castle just above the slipper next to Cindy's head...

Anyway, the press release is wrong! I don't mean just about the ratio! It says:
Everyone orders Cinderella around: her cruel stepmother, her awful stepsisters -- even the big clock in the church tower tells her when to start another day of drudgery.
That should be the big clock in the castle tower!

I also like some of the wording they said in other places better, like when they said "Cinderella has faith her dreams of a better life will come true." instead of just "faith her wishes would come true" and I like when they say "leaving only a single glass slipper . . . the only key to the ultimate fairytale ending!" instead of saying a perfect fit will "create the ultimate fairy tale ending." They even put in the spoiler of her dress getting torn, a moment you're not supposed to suspect when first seeing the film. Plus, a lot of the synopsis sounds like I've the one the wrote for the last release before.

But I've got to admit, this time the lithographs they have for ordering from the Disney Store are really good selections. The only thing is they re-did some of them to have a blue and blonde Cinderella. They should either make really good prints of exact scenes from the film, or use the original cel set-ups, ot have really good re-draws and paints of the cel set-ups, or even beautiful completely newly made pictures of the original scenes. But it's Disney, what can you say, they're lazy. But man, I would draw and paint really good lithographs for them for free!

Anyway, as for the bonus features...they sound great, and yea, exciting for me, except some of them I don't know what they are, and the whole Tnagled thing...I do feel kinda like my favorite film is once again being cheaply used for Princess synergy instead of treating it with enough respect to devote that space to a bonus feature made just for the film. And if that un-classic titled thing is on the Disney classic traditional Cinderella...

tsom I don't think those are all the bonus features. Anyway, I'm suprised at you because, well, I still don't have a firm grasp on how much you like this movie and also, aren't you excited for not just any new bonus features but an up-graded HD Blu-ray transfer too? And you won't be able to find all the new bonus features on Youtube you know!

Wonderlicious, some of the pictures in that book are most definately partly taken from the old book, but it's not the same thing, I can at least see it's not a direct re-print, but it doesn't look like it has anything more than that book had either. I think I'll get it anyway, and let you know.

Khonnor, yea, I find it weird that Beauty and the Beast, possibly Disney's most popular release after from The Lion King, never got a collector's gift set when Snow White and The Lion King and now Cinderella, the other biggies, have gotten them. But Cinderella's should be more like...Snow White's.

In fact, Snow White's had the kind of box I think Cinderella should have. If it just had a box like that, with beautiful new art, a new book that says and has anything new it can, even just new illustrations and a new telling of the story, and maybe some character sketches/lithographs, or some special cool cel set-up looking thing, it would be an actual good set.

I hope I'm wrong, but do I see a grey DVD for Cinderella? I guess printing artwork for the diamond editions has reached its end. At least can always count on consistent inconsistency from them.

That 3-disc gold cover is tacky.

Oh, when you said "the Blu-ray" instead of Blu-rays I thought...nevermind, I gotcha now.

I'm just hoping the picture is too early to show us the real, colored art they're going to print on the discs, Christopher_TCUIH.

@Duster: I like the picture where you added the texture (the first one at the top). I'm not crazy about the gold they have--it's too bright, shiny, and plasticky to me. At least the title is horizontal though.  I actually don't mind the regular, red cover. I wish Cinderella wasn't lit up though. The drawing of her itself is fine, but I hate the hi-bright colors they used for her hair, skin and dress.

Preess release:

http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/4 ... er-2-2012/

Note it states the format as 1.78:1 but that's probably a typo.

Duster, I LOVE Cinderella but I'm not getting the Blu Ray because I don't have a Blu Ray player and I doubt I'm getting one any time soon. One would argue that I could still purchase it and keep it till I do get a Blu Ray player, but what's the point? Yes, there have been plenty of films & classic movies I would love to have on Blu Ray just to see the plentiful bonus features and awesome HD colors, but I already have them on the best dvd set they each have to offer. And truth be told, Cinderella and other movies will be released again in the future, and by then I will have a Blu Ray player or whatever new home video technology will be available then. Just because I sincerely love a movie doesn't mean I'm going to shell out all that money for something I really don't need. I don't mind seeing them re-released in cinemas though. Hope that makes sense?

Well if you buy the Three Disc Diamond Edition of Cinderella it comes with a Digital Copy that gets saved on your iTunes/iCloud purhcases essentially making the copy yours forever. I always buy the new movies as they come out because it seems like an event....I never really owned VHS or DVD so to me these are great becuase I love the hype involved around each rerlease.
