I'm so happy this is up. I've waited for this to go up for pre-order for a while. Does anyone know when this will go up for order on sites such as Walmart? I'm not comfortable using Amazon.

The coupon on Amazon expires May 3, 2012, so if you are at all interested in pre-ordering it through the site, you should do so soon!

Only because , if it comes damaged, I'd like to actually be able to go to a store with it and get an exchange rather than sending it back through mail and such. It's just a precaution. Or if something goes wrong with the credit card, I like a store for that reason, too.
Nevermind, found it.

Ow, I didn't know that

Also, this might be a small detail, but I love how they changed the logo's from the sequels to match the one on the Diamond Edition. :)

A few random opinions that I can't be bothered tying together better, all related to announcements of bonus features, cover arts etc:

-The gold border on the three-disc set looks kinda tacky and cheap, and clashes with the deeper colours of the characters and backgrounds. The Blu-Ray/DVD cover (sans gold border) looks much better, though the DVD
cover ultimately looks nicer.

-The gift set looks atrocious. First of all, it contains the sequels, which is never a good sign as far as I'm concerned. Furthermore, I can't imagine many Disney fans being attracted by a tacky jewellery box and not a classy collector's gift set like the original Platinum Edition or the Diamond Edition of Snow White got. Equally, I can't see many little girls who would be interested n a cardboard jewellery box would be interested in a collector's gift set. Aside from the first film, the only good thing in the set will probably be the book, which I can imagine is a re-print of the one featured in the Platinum gift set.

-I can imagine that the "Fantasyland" feature may not be much more than a promo, and will make the Magic Kingdom look like nothing more than a "princess' paradise"... None the less, it would be cool if it went into the history of Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom (i.e. its influences from both animation and reality, the mosaics).

-Pairing Tangled Ever After with Cinderella seems a bit odd, but it's not the first time Disney has premiered a vaguely related short with one of their animated films (i.e. The Little Match Girl with The Little Mermaid, Destino with Fantasia 2000).

-Could "The Magic of the Glass Slipper" be some sort of audio/visual commentary, sort of similar to what appeared on the Alice in Wonderland Blu-Ray? If it doesn't involve Second Screen crap, then I'm down with it, especially considering that a commentary was sorely missing from the DVD.

-If Disney are using Second Screen for something fluffy and not worthy for real fans (unlike Lady and the Tramp), I'll also be content! :p

-Hopefully a few bonus features will be announced (substantial ones at that), and hopefully all the old Platinum materials will be ported over, though I ultimately doubt the galleries and radio programmes will be ported over. :|

I think it is ridicules! It is rather clear it is a stunt to try and get more people to buy (or re-buy as I'm sure the case will be for most) Cinderella. I'm kind of surprised they are putting it on the DVD and not making it a Blu-ray only thing.

If it is anything like The Lion King, I hope you hold on to your old 2 disc DVD set to hold with this one. Until I hear different, that is what I'm going to do.

Wait... it's ridiculous that they have made a pretty great business decision, that will also makes fans happy?

The alternative would be to wait until Tangled gets a re-release, which will certainly not be for another 5-10 years.

So, fans of Cinderella get a bonus, and fans of Tangled get to own the short sooner than expected. It's a win-win.

Which would be double-dipping for anyone that's already bought Tangled anyway. I'm glad I'll be able to have the short sooner than expected. :)

The 3-Disc color could actually becalled technically good-looking because it has scientifically complimentary colors, gold and purple. The 3-disc cover does look a little bit like the film's storybook, which in the film looks gold (though strangely I've seen a different picture of it where it looks pink...!) with some colored parts on it. No, it doesn't look A LOT like it, and yes, if it was textured it would look a lot more like a gilded book but...

Are you saying it's reall that much worse than this: Sleeping Beauty steelbook?

The texture on that book is not particularly nice, and would actually look awful on Cinderella's cover, donchya think? What would be the right texture?

And as for it looking tacky...c'mon, Cinderella's time period is 1700's/1800's , when they golded things a lot. Look at how ornate they got. Or you saying their rococco architecture and poofy ballgowns couldn't be called tacky if you wanted to be so negative? I bet they had lots of things that looked like the DVD cover.

Lnds500, I just want to get what you meant, you will find me to hunt me down for pointing out something you missed to 'get me"? lol
singerguy04 wrote:I also kind of hate the whole Trilogy jewelry box thing. Sets like these should be more gender neutral. :x
You missed when I said if it was more like just a fancy box to keep anything in, even watches for guys, it would be great. But I got to admit, not a lot of guys would probably use a Cinderella box unless it was just meant to hold the movie stuff.

Sotiris a thousand million thank yous for all you posted in this thread (and thanks for fixing that The Magic of the Glass Slipper is not the same as the Disney View as you accidently posted before)!

Are we really comparing these two? Now, I admit that, just as this picture doesn't do the Sleeping Beauty steelbook justice, the physical slipcover for Cinderella will probably be much more impressive. But comparing the images alone, the Cinderella one looks so incredibly cheap. The composition is super weird with everything pulled to the top, leaving a bunch of blank gold space, and the overall feeling of it just so photoshop-y.

I'll be waiting to see what the steelbook for Cinderella will look like. I hope to god they use one of the gorgeous blue images we talked about earlier in the thread.

Welp, looks like I'll be waiting for the coupon for the two disc version to pop up. I really didn't like the gold Diamond Edition cover for "Lady and the Tramp," and this is just... so much more of what I don't like. And the jewelry box is right out, both because I have very little use for a jewelry box and because I would sooner die than own the sequels.

Those are all the bonus features? That's it?

As much as I LOVE Cinderella, I will be sticking with my Platinum Edition Gift Set from 7 years ago.

Alternate opening sequence sounds awesome! But I'm sure it'll be on YouTube eventually. The Magic of the Glass Slipper sounds like a new documentary for the release.

I was just noting how interesting it is that famous shoe designers are involving themselves with the Cinderella story.

There's no book, like the one in the PE Gift Set.

It IS a book with pictures on the pages that HOLD the discs.

Though I like this gift set more than the Lion King Trilogy Set from last year, I'm not gonna buy this either and just wait for a simpler UK Trilogy Set. Am bummed Beauty And The Beast never got a Trilogy Set (that I'm aware of).

No, the alternative is that they release it on it's own or as part of other unreleased shorts. Plenty of those to pick from.

ALL the DVD features, too, though with a grain of salt, i'll take that.
