jpanimation wrote:Well, I don't know if anyone has seen them yet but the opening to this show and a clip have been posted online (and then quickly taken down). I saved them but I'm not going to post them online as Viacom is taking them down within hours. If you google search, I'm sure you can find them in some form, although they may be mirrored.

My thoughts: J.K. Simmons is much more subdued as Tenzin then I thought he would be (his Spider-Man role is partially to blame for that) and I'm glad is says Avatar: The Legend of Korra as opposed to The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra (makes more sense, since she's not the last airbender, but she is an avatar). So let's bring it on Nickelodeon. This guy has the whole first episode for review and yet you still haven't given us a premier date, come on.
I thought something has been going around. I've seen a few gifs and stills that I know aren't from the original trailer. Hmm, so they already have the first one finished. Shouldn't be long now.

But estefan, as for where this series is going, Aang isn't even going to be in it. It's in the future, Korra, a female water bender is the next Avatar, and there is a new government that is against bending. It has a more steampunk vibe. Here's the *awesome* trailer.

I CAN'T WAIT! :D

Well, Aang or any of the other characters in the original series not being in it is a large reason why I'm excited. Like I said, their story is finished and considering Nickelodeon has a tendency to milk their shows, it makes even more pleased that they are going in this direction.

Like you, I'm very excited for this show.

I'm just as excited as you people are. As a matter of fact, I loved the original Last Airbender cartoon show, so hopefully this one doesn't disappoint.

Wow Korra is cute. Was that a Polar bear-dog? I love their gene-swapy animals

^Yep, it's a Polar Bear Dog! At the Comic Con panel, I think they said it's name is Naga. (I wasn't there, I watched it on YouTube!)

Characters I know of:
Korra
Tenzin: Master Airbender and son of Aang and Katara. Husband of Pemma (nonbender) with 3 kids
Mako: Firebender, brother of Bolin and "sidekick" to Korra. Named after Mako, the voice actor of Uncle Iroh, who passed away during Book 2
Bolin: Earthbender, brother of Mako and "sidekick" to Korra
Naga: Polar Bear Dog
Paboo: Fire ferret and sidekick of Bolin
Baddie in a mask. I don't know if his name has been released yet. Does anyone know?

"The Legend of Korra" premieres on Saturday, April 14 at 11am. If the show reaches 100,000 likes on Facebook, they'll treat us to the first episode on March 25.

Couple things:

1) They dropped "The Last Airbender" part of the title, thank god

2) How awesome is it that this starts right after Young Justice ends every Saturday?

As for the early premier, March 25th sounds good, as long as it's before the Mad Men premier. 87,000 already, 100,000 is in the bag.

The first episode was great. I can't wait for the next one :D

Did anyone else think that homeless guy living in the bush was hilarious?

It was!

I really loved it! It was kind of weird to see Katara as an old woman and to hear that Aang and Sokka are dead, but I really like the character of Korra. :)

I also loved how they teased us with Zuko's mother. It was a hilarious inside joke :D

Yeah, I loved the first episode as well. Kept the scope, interesting characters and even humour of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Definitely looking forward to seeing the further adventures of Korra. :)

I already love this show! I'm also obsessed with the fire-ferret Pabu. It's a shame ferrets are illegal in California :/ I want one..

Fingers crossed that this show doesn't have a week ending like Avatar did.

Oh and the Zuko's mother thing annoyed the hell out of me lol

I'm surprised this show looks to be as good as it does. A lot of times, sequel series have a hard time because of the comparison to the original. But I like this one so far. The concept and the protagonists are both interesting at this point. I have no idea where they're going at this point though, but I'm glad it turned out okay.

So far, I love this series. The 1920’s setting (different enough to feel new yet familiar), the industrial revolution (we saw hints of this in the last series), the rise of organized crime, the uprising caused by tension between benders and non-benders (even blaming benders for every war ever fought); all just seem like the natural direction for the series to take. The animation is also spectacular (at times during action sequences, it’s feature quality). I don’t think I’ve ever seen effects animation done this well outside Disney Feature (I’d love to know the budget Nick is giving this show). I still wish Nick would expand the budget to include an orchestra but I digress.

So far, my major complaint is the protagonists. I liked all five members of the Gaang from the last series (I even bonded with Appa) but so far I don’t have any connection with this trio. What this series needs is The Storm. That was the episode during the last series that hooked me on those characters by letting us in so we can empathize with them.

Has anyone else read Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Promise? I recently bought the compilation of the three volumes, and I read it the other day. It wasn't great (I didn't really like what they did with Zuko so much and I was a little shocked when Aang destroyed his connection to Avatar Roku), but somehow it was still nice seeing more of the characters. I know there is another multi-book arc being made (The Search), which I'll be getting as well.

I have to admit, I was a little infuriated the book didn't deal with Zuko's mother, considering that was the only real loose end that was never tied up. Instead it ends just like the animated series, with Zuko asking about her again. I'm interested to see what they do with Azula in the next one.

I haven't read the books. I've heard they're pretty good from internet folks, but they don't look too great to me.

Does anyone know when Korra's coming out on DVD? I've had it preordered on Amazon since December (there was a $13.99 deal), but I still haven't gotten a release date. It's weird. I'm dying to see the show. I didn't have any cable when the show was being aired, so I still haven't seen it. :(

That 21st May 2013 release date for Blu-Ray and DVD was only briefly listed on Amazon, then the Blu-Ray release was removed, and then the release date was removed from the DVD release. There is currently no release date for the DVD.
