Dear Disney, Hercules please.

With all the DACs getting BluRay releases this year, why not Hercules? This would be the perfect year for it, given it's its 15th anniversary. Additionally, I may be wrong on this (and if I am it's only by the 40s package films), but I'm pretty sure that Hercules is now the DAC that has gone the longest without a release. The last release was the Gold Collection DVD that is near unwatchable. Really hope Hercules comes out soon on BluRay/DVD.

I like Hunchback much, much more, but at least Hunchback has a decent DVD that I can live with for a few more years. I literally can't stand watching Hercules' Gold Collection DVD.

I'm watching Hercules in HD right now and it looks amazing...can't wait to watch Hunchback in HD as well! Bring on the blu-rays!

It's on Amazon Instant Video and streamed it through my tv. It is 100% indicative of the blu-ray we'll eventually receive. It's anamorphic and the picture is revelatory! I streamed Hunchback this morning and the result is not as good. While the picture was an upgrade, it has yet to receive any kind of restoration as there was flicker and dirt and grain all throughout the print.

Don't bring Hunchback to BluRAY! No! I know what's going to happen! They're going to bring it together with that craptacular DTV sequel! So no! Just no!

I'm sure it will be available without that shitty sequel, and besides...don't you think a Blu-Ray version of Hunchback would make seeing it coupled with the sequel worth it?

I expect Amazon Instant Video sources it from a 35mm print. To be honest it should still look pretty good from a print, as it does on its current DVD.

Well they did put Fox and the Hound and Pocahontas two of the less beloved classics with their sequels.

Just out of interest, do the discs cost more when the movie is paired with its DTV sequel? Otherwise, I don't see the problem since you can just watch the movie and not watch the sequel.

I think Fox and the Hound costs more with its sequel. At the very least I've never seen it for a reasonable sale price as I have with single-movie Disney BluRays like Dumbo and Bambi.

The thing is, they should probably heavily advertise the inclusion of both films; may be on the slip cover, and the slip cover only, should this be advertised on the actual release. Double features are just not that special, and it tarnishes a collection, especially when it goes from iconic movies to bottom-of-barrel scraped messes. It could work beautifully as a bonus feature.

Either way, since this discussion is about the long awaited, and confusingly forgotten Hercules release, this is not an issue. I can't begin to imagine why this is the Blu-Ray era and still no Hercules. I mean, the main Gold Collection features got upgraded once into DVD and now into both DVD and Blu-Ray! Let's make a list, shall we?

-Pocahontas
-Alice in Wonderland
-Mulan
-Robin Hood
-Fox and The Hound
-Mary Poppins
-The Rescuers Down Under
-A Bug's Life
-Toy Story
-Pocahontas freakin' 2

All of these have a Gold Collection release, a DVD upgrade, and a Blu-Ray rumor, announcement, or release under their belt. Why not Hercules?

EDIT: There is the Limited Edition, but that might as well count as nothing.

Is Fox and the Hound really that little beloved? I know that it doesn't have so much haters that Pocahontas have, but is it really that underrated?

Hercules and Hunchback, please. How hard can it be Disney? They must be determined to get the public to forget about both movies.

Strange to not release them when Disney could have earned money on them. If they had promoted more of their movies instead of just the princess movies and a couple of other titles, then that would have been a favorable strategy in the long run: More well known Disney movies to sell again and again equals more money.
