stay calm, as I've said before, some countries get less extras and static menus. The Lion King and beauty and the Beast was the same here (the later didn't even have Lumiere in the loading screen). Relaxjpanimation wrote:They’re not even trying with this one. The clipart cover and static Blu-ray menu scream: “We don’t give a shit, you’ll buy it anyways.” News for you Disney, if you’ve shown it on TV, odds are I have it in HD on my DVR and won’t be buying it. Next time, try enticing me.

While I do like to have some kind of animation/effort put into the presentation, I also hate when studios go overboard with menus. Especially annoying is when they have this whole elaborate sequence that plays out like it's a big event to watch the stuff on the disc, which is amusing the first couple times I guess, but usually I like to get right to the point. I think more minimalistic approach is better, especially when it comes to navigation. A lot of dvds/blu rays seem like they go out of their way to make finding anything an adventure, and you can't remember where anything is. The most recent example I can think of, and I know this isn't Disney anymore, was the last Narnia. What where they thinking splitting the extras up into islands like that? Ive wasted so much time just trying to find the good stuff on that release.

Wanna change? Don't be ungrateful, you have no idea how terrible BatB was. And I'm not talking about the menus, I'm talking about when the disc is loading (in BatB it was Lumiere, in Up it was Dug, PatF -> Ray etc). They didn't even care to keep that part in.jpanimation wrote:Wait, what? Lnds500: I totally agree with you!! Our copies of The Lion King and beauty and the Beast here in Middle East was AWFUL!!
Horribly designed menus and less extras
There is nothing special about our copies!!
Except some diamond editions like Snow White, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp and few others they were great.

Tarzan
Video: 4/5
Audio: 3/5
Extras: 2/5
Tarzan is a pretty basic release. The video quality is above average, but there seems to be something "off" with the picture. I'd say it uses the exact same transfer as the HDTV-rip available (without the edge enhancement + added contrast). No lossless audio is a let-down and the extras are laughable. I hope the UK and US get a better treatment.

from the Pocahontas thread
I don't know how to describe the problem. I'd say there are 3 abnormalities. there is a strange texture in a lot of instances, the colours seems like they are "vibrating" (imagine a flash-light being turn on and off repeatedly) and the end credits are a mess (compression artifacts??? not sure how to describe them)

I just wanted to point out that it looks very good and nothing seems "off".
observe this one. http://imageshack.us/f/854/tarzan1130005.png/ look at his hair. there is a strange texture there.Scamander wrote:Wow, what a bummer. This release really is disappointing.
Is the picture quality really that bad compared to other Disney Blu-rays? I looked at some of the screencaps on blu-ray.com and they seemed okay to me.
Well, I guess we Germans should be lucky enough to get for the first time ever an uncut version of Tarzan.

EDIT: re-uploaded everything, they should work fine now. I suggest using rapidshare cause youtube further reduces quality
I captured these small clips off of the blu-ray using some freeware just to show you the problems I'm talking about, if there is a problem with the forum I'll remove them. Some loss in quality should be expected since this is not the blu-ray but I think they will do.

Notice his hair during this http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/85 ... 130005.png instance. When playing it's not very clear, but that's the texture I'm talking about. Pause the clip, it becomes more noticeable then.

This is much more obvious. Notice his hair when he picks up the cloth.

Notice the bushes at the right and left of the credits.
