One of the very sad effects of the digital switchover is that projectionists are finding themselves unemployed
That's where you are so wrong. Having been a projectionist for almost 30 years now, I am totally not unemployed because of Digital Theater Presentation. The equipment still needs to be maintained, and the shows need to be started on time, and should a problem arise, which has never happened on my watch, we have to be there to make sure it is taken care of immediately.

Digital Projection is only as good as the equipment the theater company buys. Cheap equipment means more problems.

Wish you could be here in Wichita, Kansas, where I could show you why Digital is a thousand times better than film, in more ways than just clarity of picture.

When I am recuperated from my current medical problems, I will be back in the booth taking care of business.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

Casablanca Yes, I own it on Blu-ray but how often do you get the chance to see this in theaters? They never do these anniversary screenings anywhere near me but this time it’s playing just 5 minutes from my house.

As for digital, I remember them saying their goal was to make everything automated. They plan for all the theaters in each cinema to be controlled from a single room in that cinema - where they could easily switch movies, trailers, etc. at the click of a mouse - and they want them automated so it'll always be on time. If this is truly the case, then projectionist will indeed find themselves out of a job, as cinemas will probably only require equipment repair specialist from time to time. Of course, this is still a while out.

I'm veeeeery excited for the Hunger Games, although I fear that they will come nowhere near the books.
