I'm sure this was unintentional, but I thought it was funny.
I don't know but I think we should keep this from Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson or they will throw a fit with Disney over it.I think its funny in a sorta way and I think the developers didn't know about the stigma of black people being associated with watermelons. However,as a black person this is no big but I do find it funny and watermelon is delcious.

Its an American thing that goes back way to slavery in the south. In America there is a long history of potraying blacks as poor, uneducated, and often snaking on watermelon and fried chicken.Although many black people today still joke about the watermeleon and chicken because of the fact its just an inside joke about the history behind those two food.
Disney Duster wrote:lol I knew that one, but you're saying the only reason to point out Aurora is vanilla is because it's not stereotypical in contrast to Tiana?
No, the point of the pic OP trying to tell us is they giving Tiana watermelon flavor as if it was intentional. Use your head, duster.
Honestly I think its just an aesthetic choice. She's already wearing a shade of green that is known to compliment her skin tone, and watermelon fits with that.
I never heard of the stereotype about watermelon or chicken until well into my late teens (Im 24 now). To me, its just food. Food that a lot of people of all races like to eat.
"Why watermelons? According to David Pilgrim, the curator of the Jim Crow Museum, defenders of slavery used the watermelon as a symbol of simplicity. African Americans, the argument went, were happy as slaves. They didn’t need the complicated responsibilities of freedom; they just needed some shade and a cool, delicious treat."

I am African American and I say watermeleon is delcious and at least they are not trying to do anything racial with this. However,I do get what the symbol of the watermelon might be treated with caution. However,at the same time a lot of black people would admit that watermeleon is too good not to hate.Besides its a great source of good nutrients for the body.Besides watermeleon has roots in Africa as well so I think it wouldbe good to take back the stigma of watermeleon and African AMericans because watermeleon comes from the motherland of West Africa.
It could be worse but at least they didn't show a picture of a watermeleon next to Tiana then the NAACP would have been on their butts. However,I think this is just one coicidence that is just a little bit racially unfortunate.I don't think it should be a national outrage but I just think somebody didn't think this through. However,I usually like watermeleon flavored candy so its all good in the hood.

:/ This is yet another understanding between me and you. I get what is up with Tiana, I was just wondering if there was a reason someone pointed out that Aurora got vanilla, ALSO.

Ah sorry. my bad then. the way you word it is awkward.
I suppose the vanilla is to her "whiteness". but I think the OP was more or less referring to the Tiana one.
