Beauty and the Beast 4K Projector in New York?

Post by Not.That.Kind.Of.Guy »

Dose anyone know if and where ''Beauty and the beast'' is shown in a 4K projector in Manhattan, New York?

Or where is the best theatre in Manhattan to see the movie?

Sorry if this has been asked, but does anyone know how long this will be in theaters in the U.S.? I don't think i'll be able to see it till February 4th!

Thank you very much! :-)

They replaced all the princess voices? Are they any good? Any easy way to get a listen to them all?

At D23 when the "princesses" sang, she seemed to have the most difficulty singing like Belle circa 1990's.

But...that's the original Jasmin. I'm talking about the replacements.

Goosebumps I teared up during the credits song - it's so worth it to see these movies in the movie thearters as an adult and can actually contain the memory I saw it too little as a kid.

What ...... ? Oh my gosh is this true ???? I'm not so much suprised at Paige, as Susan often does her, but has Jodi really gone ?

I haven't heard any new Ariel stuff to know ?

It sounds ridiculous, but I do feel slightly heartbroken if this is true :(

Has she been replaced on the disney princess website?
(i'm from the u.k so can't check)

If she is capable of doing the voice she should still be doing it!

Going on that video, there is no need at all to replace Jodi. Paige yes, sadly, but not jodi and lea. No way !!

I feel so sad and angry right now  :x

Here's what she said exactly:

January 15, 2012
The gift receded when Disney finally retired her speaking voice in favor of a Belle voice-alike six months ago. "They did a one-fell swoop of all the older princesses and decided to replace all of us," she says. "I was very upset," to the point of re-recording some lines to prove she could still cut it.

But she had to admit, "I did have to work really hard and vocalize soprano for hours on end to get it up there."

Voices change as you get older - the characters they voice do not age

Was the D23 concert/honours their swansong then ?

Susan Egan has played Belle ALOT over the last few years, so Paige can't be suprised. I guess this means Ariel, Belle, jasmine and Pocahontas have gone ?

I know. I don't like the way Disney handled this.

I guess our first taste of the new voices will probably be through Sophia the First.

This appallingly handled if this is true. Especially when you hear the reactions that all the ladies got at D23.

I know it sounds totally over the top, but I am really upset by this. Obviously I knew they couldn't play the roles forever, but to just be shoved off like that is appalling !

I dont think I've even ever heard anyone else play Ariel ?? Correct me if I'm wrong? Especially as Jodi sang and opened the Mermaid ride last summer too and sounded briliant.

I just don't get it.

Jodi still sounds like Ariel. Her 'Barbie' in Toy Story 3 sounded... well... like Ariel.

To me there was no reason to be interested in anything these characters are featured in beyond the original film anyway. So I'll regard them as the one and only voices either way. Paise = Belle, Jodi = Ariel and so forth.

oh and Disney, you better hurry up, Mandy Moore is turning 28 soon.

Here's my review of the movie
Part 1 Tangle Short http://awesomereviewer.tumblr.com/post/ ... ngled-ever

Part 2 The 3D http://awesomereviewer.tumblr.com/post/ ... t-2-the-3d

Part 3 The Movie
http://awesomereviewer.tumblr.com/post/ ... -the-movie

And for those who don't want to go to the site:

“Beauty and the Beast” probably Disney’s most acclaimed movie since “Mary Poppins,” nominated for a record 6 Oscars, including Beast Picture (first animated movie to do so), 2 wins, also the first animated film to win Best Picture at the Golden Globes, and it also spawned a Tony Award winning stage musical. When I first watched this movie as a kid on VHS, I liked and then I watched it again on TV 2 years ago for the first time after a long time. This time I was disappointed and couldn’t understand why it got so much praise. Many consider “Beauty and the Beast” to be one of the best, if not best animated movie of all time, do I agree?

Basic plot summary: “Belle, whose father is imprisoned by the Beast, offers herself instead and discovers her captor to be an enchanted prince.”

After watching the movie several times on Blu-ray and now recently in theaters, my opinion has since then changed. I’ve started liking it more and more after each viewing and finally understand why it gets so much praise.

“Beauty and the Beast” is a beautiful movie about love, sacrifice, redemption, and beauty only being skin deep. The writing is smart in that it manages to tackle all of these heavy themes with humor and a certain charm. Nothing feels out of place with the overall story whether it be with the comedic battle or the heart wrenching ending. The movie starts off small and quickly builds to a more epic vibe towards the end.

Animation is gorgeous, usually considered Disney’s best. Character animation is not only fluid, but a realisticness to them. For instance Mrs. Pots has to jump onto something soft in order to go to the ground. Or how Belle pushes her hair back, its these little touches that make it so breathtaking. And the transformation scene, just sheer brilliance, it has everything that you would want in see.

Alan Menken and the late great Howard Ashman, bless his soul, created the score and songs for this movie. The music is so brilliant capturing every emotion from joyfulness to sorrow to an epic vibe. As for the songs they are equally brilliant to the music that accompany it. Lyrics are smart, catchy and have so much more meaning than what is actually being said. To pick one song as the best would be criminal, all the songs are just fantastic and they really amp up the story. These songs will last forever.

Now the characters, they are fantastic. The side characters playboy Lumiere, wind up Cogsworth, and motherly Mrs. Pots are all charming and lovable. They all have there moment to shine and actually move the story forward and never become annoying. The Beast is fantastic and has so many layers. He is mean and vicious, but at the same time through his eyes we see that he is a tortured soul. Even when he is being completely unbearable, he immediately realizes his mistakes, much credit to Glen Keane. Belle is probably considered the most feminist of all the Disney princess and I totally agree. She’s smart, has a wit, stubborn, curious, and at the same time very attractive. She is very realistic because she represents a strong female role model for girls everywhere. And the last character is Gaston, the movies villain, he’s great. He may be good looking, but he’s arrogant, self loving, and very blunt. He feels as if he can get whatever he want. It’s great seeing Gaston become more beast like and the Beast more human like as the movie progresses.

Overall, “Beauty and the Beast,” is a terrific movie and truly deserving of every accolade it receive(d)(s). While still not in my top 5, I can see why it is revered as the greatest animated movie of all time. From a enticing story, to gorgeous animation, to beautiful music, it is all top notch. I can see why it is considered the best animated film of all time. I give it 5/5, everything is just immaculate and I don’t have enough words to describe how great it is.

Excuse me... can I use a clip that's probably never been used here before?

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/EHv9acm3fF0?rel=0" frameborder="0"></iframe>

That's better.

Back to the matter at hand, can they even DO this?! I mean, Paige is practically Belle and Jodi IS Ariel! Sure, girls like Susan Egan or Sierra Boggess could work as replacements as Belle and Ariel respectively (I don't know for sure if Sierra would be the new voice of Ariel, but she did play Ariel on Broadway), but come on! :(

If voices were not replaced we wouldn't have any cartoons of Mickey, Donald, Goofy... any of the princesses before Ariel. The problem is they dont sound like the characters anymore. The princesses never age. Could you imagine Snow White sounding like a 80 year old but still looking 14?
