That said, I think it’s okay for someone to write characters who aren’t like themselves. Though there are many differences, the human experience is something that ties us together. But it is depressing that there aren’t more women writing about women--or women writing in the entertainment industry in general. Of course, women are capable of writing weak female characters themselves. See Grey’s Anatomy and Twilight.
But I get your point because this is less about a woman character but more about “women” in general terms.
How is it different? Women have been stereotyped in media created by men for a very long time, even if unconsciously.
