Rocko's Modern Life - Show Creator Blogs that 'Season 2' DVDs Are In-the-Works No official info from Shout! Factory or Nickelodeon yet, but Joe Murray says he's offered to pitch in http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Rockos ... on-2/15852

Joe Murray better make all the characters happy on the cover or Nickelodeon will reject it. Remember what happened with Jhonen Vasquez's cover art for the second volume of Invader Zim?
The above art was deemed too violent, as the characters looked like they were in pain and Nickelodeon wouldn't approve it unless he added smiles to all the character's faces. So Jhonen ended his involvement with the DVD sets and Nickelodeon wound up just using stock art for the cover instead.
It's a shame as I always felt the show never fully captured the feel of Jhonen's original sketches. He's just such an amazing artist, the original cover proves that and the stock art just doesn't do it justice.
It does look a bit crude (the dvd art), but I like that the creator is doing something different and not just recycling the same artwork from the burn on demand DVDs this time. I will get this for sure. Probably one of the last few great Nicktoons looking back on it.
I dunno, I really like the cover myself. It fits Joe Murray's modernist-tinged style well, which he admittedly explored more outside of Rocko than on the show itself. If nothing else, it at least seems more genuine than Shout's other covers.
Bought it last week, loving it! And I really love that Joe Murray is really involved with it, like putting in bonus features and designing new cover art. What a guy!
Now let's hope we can get seasons 3 and 4!
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.
