No 'The Muppets Take Manhattan' in this collection? Disappointing. Probably the third best behind the original and the new one.zackisthewalrus wrote:Blu-ray.com just listed this on their website.

It's supposed to include "The Muppet Movie", "The Great Muppet Caper", "The Muppet Christmas Carol", "Muppet Treasure Island", "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz", and "The Muppets". I hope Disney does individual releases on this one, although I'm sure they'll pull a "The Lion King Trilogy" on this and only release them together. I would rather not buy "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz", but whatever...

Sony has already released "The Muppets Take Manhattan" on Blu-ray. They currently hold the rights to that film and "Muppets From Space".RIPJoeRanft wrote:No 'The Muppets Take Manhattan' in this collection? Disappointing. The trailers gave an underwhelming impression of the film, appearing like one of those Looney Tunes movies where a live-action character supersedes the real stars.
Thankfully, that was NOT the case. They did an excellent job of reintroducing Kermit and the gang, and reflecting on their irrelevance of the past decade or so. Given what's become of TV and movies these days, the world could use some of Jim Henson's wholesome entertainment these days.

And the Direct to Video film "Kermit's Swamp Years" which they have not yet put on Blu-Ray (nor has NBC-Universal with It's A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie).zackisthewalrus wrote: Sony has already released "The Muppets Take Manhattan" on Blu-ray. I'll be picking that one up. The first couple of movies are in need of a good restoration. When they did the "restoration" on the DVDs, seems like the restorers were a little lost. Maybe they should've tried Hare Krishna...zackisthewalrus wrote:Blu-ray.com just listed this on their website.

Oh, man, I saw "The Muppets" today! I LOVED IT SO MUCH! Favorite part was probably the Man or Muppet song! Gotta get that CD! Oh, and it was in that scene that my sis and I realized at least one Flight of the Conchords member had to have worked on these songs!

"Man or Muppet" was tremendous, as was "Life's a Happy Song". Both fully deserve Oscar nominations for Best Original Song.slave2moonlight wrote:Oh, man, I saw "The Muppets" today! I LOVED IT SO MUCH! Disney Animation should strongly consider having Bret McKenzie write some songs for their upcoming films. Talented guy.

I did already post this but it hasn't shown.
Tonight Olly Murs will preform with The Muppets on the U.K Version of X Factor (Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal to name a few)

Agreed! I just picked up the soundtrack! Too bad I can never get Disney Movie Rewards' CD thing to work and give me points! I always have to send an e-mail begging for them. Maybe there's an easier way now.RIPJoeRanft wrote:"Man or Muppet" was tremendous, as was "Life's a Happy Song". Anyways, here is my rushed review of the film on my site: http://moonlightmotelcomic.com/
And here are some pics I just took of my comic strip character, Monty Moonlight, with The Great Gonzo to accompany my review:

First off, loved the film. There were parts I wasn't as keen on, but I give it a B+/ A- over all. I really hope we see more Muppet films in the years to come. Based on how this film has done, I think another film will come sooner or later.
Second, I'm trying to piece this together, but does anyone know which Muppet tv specials and shows Disney actually has the rights to and which they don't? As far as I know, Sony only has "Muppets Take Manhattan," "Muppets From Space," and "Kermit's Swamp Years." I know they released some of the various tv specials on DVD, but those are all out of print now and released before Disney's purchase of the Muppets. So, it can be a bit confusing knowing what is what. I know Disney holds the rights to "Muppets Tonight" and "The Muppet Show." Does anyone know for sure if they own "Muppet Babies?" Thanks.

They do own Muppet Babies seeing as that was also a Marvel animation co-production. Problem with it though is all the stock footage the series used causing legal issues.milojthatch wrote: Second, I'm trying to piece this together, but does anyone know which Muppet tv specials and shows Disney actually has the rights to and which they don't? And then There's new news regarding Fraggle Rock Movie (not by Disney,)
Muppet Baby the animated series....if it is true that Disney has the rights to them due to their buying Marvel, I'd love for that series to be released. Perhaps Disney's New DVD-Mod program. Although I did think Lucasfilm had some say in that show, they used Yoda as a monster sometimes in the animated series, not a true monster, only in their pretending some times...

During that review, there was some mention by Doug of his commenting a lot on the New Looney Tunes Show in previous vids. I can't find any vids on his site that specify that. Can anyone direct me. I'd be interested in his opinion on that show. I liked it, but I hate what they did to Lola!

I actually like the new Lola. Even if she's a total space case, at least she has an actual (and Looney Tunes-y) personality and character besides "Untouchable girlpower character created by the marketing boys"slave2moonlight wrote:During that review, there was some mention by Doug of his commenting a lot on the New Looney Tunes Show in previous vids. So I did some Muppets-related shopping on Amazon.com recently and today I received a promotional code which can be redeemed for a ticket to see The Muppets. Given my location, I have no use of it and I'd like to give it to one of you guys, preferably to someone who has not seen the movie yet. I'll forward Amazon's email with the promo code to whoever PMs me with their email address first.
