As a non-comic book nerd, Iron Man 2-to me-was just too filled with cliches and they kinda changed the focus of the villains to some corporate dude I dont care about.

Sounds surprisingly good! Very nostalgic, R&H like. Is the Menken song in the end credits or integrated into the story?

Yeah. Cap America movie is an origin movie. All the other movies at the end had Nick Fury enlisting them (the superheroes) in to the Avengers. This movie will most likely have the same. It's so the movies come together to do the Avengers movie.

There's a couple of references to Thor and Tony Stark's father has a supporting role in the film, but besides that, if you're unfamiliar with the other pre-Avengers films, you should still be fine watching this by itself.

I was surprised to hear Menken was the man behind that very catchy, wonderful song used in the film...I have to admit I enjoyed it more than any of his recent songs I've heard.

I would enjoy seeing a lesser-known Marvel superhero given a musical film. I think there's potential in that - if done right. And it'd be easy to screw up.
