Welcome to UD, Snoops. :) I see you're a fan of Disney's more underrated classics.

I have a question for any one who shops online at the Disney Store.

I want to pre-order Lady and the Tramp on BD with my DMR gift card, but the only copy that shows up on the website is the DVD case with four lithographs. I'd much prefer a BD case sans the lithographs (since I'd end up losing them anyway). Is this a common way Disney pushes their merchandise? Will a BD case pop up closer to release time? Or should I just forget about this and spend my card on Waking Sleeping Beauty?

Thanks for the welcome, Frankenollie - yes, big fan here of the often overlooked "later xerox" period 8) .

So back to the ongoing "downgrading" of the Diamonds...

In the UK (and I believe in the USA) Snow White and Beauty & the Beast were both released with 2 Blu-Ray discs plus a bonus DVD.

Bambi and The Lion King were both released with just one Blu-Ray disc plus the DVD.

And now (going by the posted cover art and the details on Amazon UK and Play.com) the UK is to apparently get just one Blu-Ray disc for Lady & the Tramp, with no DVD - and we still get to pay the same price.

Gee, thanks!

I guess the UK is being used as a test market to determine whether the Diamonds sell as well on Blu-Ray without the DVD - and if they do then you can bet that the USA will follow suit sooner rather than later - maybe even for Cinderella.

It's called a rip-off, folks....

I would be nice if they released those fancy Blu-ray sized book packages in the US.

I miss those nice book editions of Diamond Blu-rays here in the US that we had for Snow White and Beauty, that came with a making-of book. Fingers crossed that we'll get that for Lady!

Bambi did have the DMC-exclusive big book packaging but no tangible extras lol.

Pitiful trailer.

What? Disney thinks that by including a modern song does the movie will bring new customers?

Disney used to be great with cover design of their classic's dvd/vhs release but now it's... kinda sloppy and Lady/Tramp's Blu design shows it. I would use the dvd verison or the french 2 movie section (just Lady/Tramp). Let's pray Cinderella has a bet'ter cover.

And Disney put the fricken titles right we're tired of the sideways angle *shrugs*

I was just thinking about the coverart for Lady and the Tramp, and it made me wonder why Disney feels they NEED to use the spaghetti scene on the cover. I understand that it's an iconic image, but would the film be unrecognizable without it to the general public? I also think this is a horrible business move on their part because this looks so similar to the PE, would people who already own the PE really see it as a new purchase? I would imagine that many people might pass on this because they'll think they already have it at home.

I wish they would have chosen a different color scheme and a new scene. It would have been nice for them to use the scene in the park where Lady and Tramp stamp their paws in the wet cement. Hell, even the cover art they made for the cheapquel with Jock and Trusty running on the street instead of the puppies would have been nicer.

I just hate recycled or incredibly close to recycled cover arts. The Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas Blu release is a dissapointment to me for this reason as well.

Also, has there been any confirmation that the US is getting Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure? I was just trying to look it up to make sure we were getting the new cover art on the blu and I can't find any shopping information for it in the US. All google searches lead to other countries. Is that strange to anyone?

Maybe they'll release it later, like they did with Bambi 2 this year?

I suppose they would do that since we are also supposed to be getting The Lion King 2 and 1 1/2 (although, have we heard any official announcement of those coming either?). I just hate the whole dragging out of it, like it's something to be specially recognized. I'd rather just get both films at the same time like most other regions seem to.

That Toys R' Us deal is pretty awesome, I took Dumbo for $5 on release day with the same pre-order deal for Cars 2 and the $5 MFC. I think I will go this route again and pick up MTR 3D.

It must be a misprint. Everything we've heard seems to point to only receiving a single blu disc set. The visual also only depicts 3 discs.

My personal vote for ugliest disney cover ever, characters are seriously off-model, that sideways title...oy vay
