Character: Kaa

Scene: When Baloo and Bagheera argue about whether to send Mowgli to the Man Village or not. "Can't it wait 'til morning?" "It's morning now."

Song: "Trust in Me"

I'm not a big The Jungle Book fan, but...

Character: Bagheera. I like that the character is responsible, and yet not annoying (as responsible characters tend to be in cartoons). In fact, I identify more with his irritation over Baloo and Mowgli. Kaa is hilarious, too.
Scene: The scenes in which Kaa attempts to eat Mowgli. Again--hilarious. I also enjoy Colonel Hathi's scenes, especially when his wife interjects.
Song: "My Own Home." Very beautiful.

Dr Frankenollie wrote:Song: 'The Bare Necessities' is simply unbeatable, and both the music and lyrics by the Sherman Brothers is sublime. It's an unbeat, cheerful and unforgettable song, and the scene in which it's sung is one of the movie's finest scenes.
I remember when I was a kid. Since it was the 80's, we didn't have most of the animated movies on VHS (and DVD was sold until 1997 and Disney didn't start putting their animated movies on DVD until '99), but we did have several tapes (then later CD's) with the songs on them and I used to have to use my imagination to recall / remember if I'd ever seen the movies and etc. I used to get the most ominous vibe all throughout listening to those CD's and I would get really excited. "Necessities" wasn't one of my favorites but it's one of the most memorable because it was so upbeat and didn't have a chorus. But still I got this freefalling feeling. Something about the way Baloo was giving his instructions. And then that slow jazz thing toward the end.

Actually, Terry Gilkyson wrote "The Bare Necessities", not the Shermans.

Character: Bagheera
Scene: King Louie sequence
Song: I Wanna Be Like You

Character: Kaa

Scene: The Elephant scene/song. When I was a kid I'd play that song over, and over, and over, and over.

This is my favorite pre-Renaissance Disney film.

Character: Baloo
Scene: Shere Khan conversing with Kaa
Song: Bare Necessities

Love everything about this movie, yet this ones an easy one for me.

Didn't I post my answer yet?

Favorite song: The Bare Neccessities; though I love the beginning 'overture' most of all

Favorite character: ugh, so many good characters! I wanted to say Baloo, but then thought of Shere Khan and Kaa and started to doubt. Well, I still go with Baloo, if only for his heroic deed when he tries to save Mowgli from the tiger and his near-death.

Favorite scene: definitly the one where Baloo tries to gather enough courage to tell an unexpecting Mowgli that he's taking the kid back to the man village. The contrast between the unknowing, playful child and the worrisome bear is done perfectly.

Song: My Own Home

Character: George Sanders Tiger

Scene: The stuff with Kaa and Khan together

Don't worry Divnity, Jungle Book doesn't do a whole lot for me either. For me because its two main leads are my least favourite characters.

When I think of J.B Baloo and Shere Khan enter my mind, so they're my fav. characters, Frank/Ollie's animation of Baloo flows with life, you feel Baloo is alive, his personality's lively, perfectly entertaining.

Milt's animation of Shere Khan was a great showcase of what Milt could do with a interlectual villian, when readin the book, Shere Khan always struck me as inteligent, almost having the same I.Q as Baghera (possibly)

The climax is well animated, fast paced, entertaining and filled with suspsene, for some reason this sequence attracted my lil nephew's attention last X Mas, he enjoyed the songs, characters, but just couldn't get into the story (he was 4 at the time) by the time Baloo/Shere fought, he was hooked on finishin the film and wanted to watch it from the start.

Jungle Book will always remain one of Disney's crown jewels of Walt's Canon, it's bright, filled with vitality, characters who's live in your hearts.

Of course Bare Necesstices is my fav. song, easily one of the best songs written, Gillkyson's lyrics had a bouncey feel to it.
