Redeeming Traits in Your Least Favorite Disney Movies

People, people! One of the rules is that you have to put at least two redeeming traits (just so that you have to think about it a little more). That said, good choices!

Hen Wen is absolutely adorable!!

The credits are gorgeous. Honestly, they were my favorite part of the movie, and I found myself wishing the rest of the movie were that style. It would have been amazing! Well, to look at, anyway...

But to get back on topic, hmm . . .

The Aristocats:

Love ths cast in this. Phil Harris has a great voice, even if thomas O'Malley keeps making me think of Baloo and Little John. We've also got Eva Gabor, Scatman Crothers, Sterling Holloway, Paul Winchell, Thurl Ravenscroft, Maurice Chevalier, Billl Thompson, and Pat Buttram! So many great voice actors for this little film.

I do like the Scales and Arpeggios song a lot; I was introduced to it through the old Sign Along VHS's and it's probably my favorite part of the film.

Napoleon and Lafayette are a great little diversion, especially thanks to Pat Buttram's voice.

Beauty and the Beast (1991)
* "Gaston" the song
* It's not just a great song, but the lyrics are some of Disney's campiest and funniest ever (and... not unintentionally so). Perhaps shockingly, even.


The Fox and the Hound (1981)
* The "Best of Friends" song inspired me to use my imagination for years, as I had the Book on Tape a long time before I was able to see the movie. What I had in my head was pretty satisfying, which makes up for how harshly I may view the movie at times.
* The scene in the movie where Widow Tweed drives home through the wind and Amos Slade is watching her, suspicious like, is actually one of the darkest and most effectively atmospheric non-musical moments I can ever remember seeing in Disney history.


Lady and the Tramp (1955)
* The Siamese Cat Song - great lyrics, darkly creepy
* The beautiful snowy opening scene fills me with a great Christmas-y feeling


The Aristocats (1970)
* Even though I cared so little about the characters, I was able to root for Edgar. A little.
* "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat" is one of, I think, Disney's all-time greatest songs (from an animated film).

Good Idea

There can be alot of negativity on the forums, which I myself have been guilty of

Here are mine:

Peter Pan
-The animation is pretty
-Peter and Tiger Lily have great chemistry

The Sword & The Stone
-The wizarding duel is fun
-It's touching when Arthur becomes King, and his former abusers bow before him

Robin Hood
-The songs are good
-The Not In Nottingham scene is very sad

The Little Mermaid
-The music is great
-The animation is beautiful at points
-Ursula is a cool villain

Pocahontas
-The title character is a great heroine
-The songs are very good (with the exception of Savages)
-The comic relief characters are sweet

Yes, I sometimes wonder about that too, but this forum is not for discussing WHY some make interesting/crazy choices. Anyway, what's a 'crazy choice' to one UDer can be a 'sensible choice' to another.

Agreed. Some people dislike Taran for not being heroic enough, but I think that he develops well and is a realistic character.

I agree with that, but the main reason I like his character in the movie is that it's one of the very few things in the movie to have been true to the books.
