Anyone else pick a copy of Garfield: Himself?
It's not due till June 29th, but my costco had them all sitting out today?
Anyone know if the release date was pushed up?

Yes, I also saw Garfield: Himself at Costco but it should have come out June 29th. Maybe they just push up the date so it could be the same week that Garfield: The Movie comes out at the theater.
I really don't know why they moved the date.
But Costco had a little in stock not that many, I guess Costco knows it won't see well. I didn't get the DVD because I wasn't that interested in getting it.

I love those cartoons, straight from my childhood.
The on the town DVD is all of 10 bucks at costco, and it's worth it if only for the memories.
As for the Garfield and Friends set, I gotta get em. Mainly because it was just a good show, very old school in its approach. Secondly because I firmly believe that the better these cartoon releases do, the better the odds of seeing more shows come to dvd. Namely The Real Ghostbusters and more of the original ninja turtles.
Right now all these companies are testing the waters.

Nah I mean like what Rhino has been debating for the better part of two years now.
They've come very close a couple of times to releasing the series the way it should be {in volumes} but something always seems to stop em.
The UK release are DVD versions of episodes out on VHS in the states from a decade or so ago. But I guess they wanna go with the Batman Approach and make poor fans go out and get the single episode discs before finally giving in and giving them a box set.

Well, they're cheap enough. Assuming 4 episodes a disc, a boxset would cost about the same anyway.

I'd just prefer to watch em at once, in order and feel like I see a light at the end of the tunnel.
RGB was one of my fav. shows because it had a lot of continuity. They made references to other shows, etc.
But animation sets on DVD are still in their early stages, and many studios are gonna test the water.
Though I do envy you, we have no announcements in the states on whether they will ever see the light of day here.
aw man...what do I do. I'm such a big Garfield fan. Though I'm dissappointed in the fact that they're not releasing them in chronological order, I already have an idea of how the other specials will be released

I don't know if anyone here has heard of it, but tvtome.com is a great website about tv shows old and new, and on each show they have a list of every episode. I noticed while comparing the episode list of Garfield and Friends with the episodes available on the upcoming "Volume One" DVD set, that the DVD seems to contain various episodes from Seasons 1 and 2, but not the complete seasons. Does anyone know if the remaining episodes will ever be released?

The Specials are probably not likely to be in a box set {if they are it'll be something like Peanuts where they just happen to put em in a box though they are the exact same DVD's.

What they aren't doing is dividing them up evenly as seasons. The reason behind that was that seasons were uneven, but the plan is to release ALL 121 episodes in 5 volumes. The second one is slated for a christmas time release. So figure on one every six months.
Personally I've found tvshowsondvd.com to be much more reliable with information {both their own and what they gather from others}.

ok I have thought about it and I decided to go ahead and get the Garfield And Friends DVD when it comes out. If all of the episodes are coming out eventually then that's what matters
