Again, you cannot say with any degree of certainty that he wasn't intended to be. Do you know what Walt might have done had he lived ten, fifteen years longer? All I'm saying is don't dismiss or doubt something before you know anything about it.DisneyDuster wrote:what if Mickey was stretched to thin by being full-length and he was never intended to be.

Well actually I can say with certainty he was intended for short amounts of time, as that's what he was in during the entire time Walt was alive. We just don't know if Walt would've put him in a full-length feature one day.
So there were no planned Mickey features after Walt died. Well, I think that says something, but I'm guessing you still don't. Oh, well, oh well.

No, that's not true; Disney fully intended to make Mickey and the Beanstalk as a full-length feature but the problems caused by the Second World War stopped them doing it.DisneyDuster wrote:Well actually I can say with certainty he was intended for short amounts of time, as that's what he was in during the entire time Walt was alive.
Well his death was quite unexpected and he kept his illness from those who worked for him so the only thing they had planned was The Aristocats. After Walt died, Woolie Reithermann was put in charge and pretty much had to convince the new regime that animation could be produced more cheaply, otherwise it probably wouldn't have survived very long. As for as animation goes, the only thing Disney had planned was The Aristocats because they had no idea that Walt was going to die as shown by so many of the animators of the time saying how shocked they were when he did die as they had no idea he was that ill.DisneyDuster wrote:So there were no planned Mickey features after Walt died. ...what I meant was, Mickey was certainly intended for shorts and things of short amount of time. What we don't know with any certainty is if maybe later he would've been allowed/intended to be in a full-length amount of time after Beanstalk shortened his time. Yes, his time was shortened partly because of the war but it is possible Walt realized he shouldn't be stretched in something for too long, his precious, special mouse.

Well, ever since I heard that news, I got excited and have high hopes for the new film, especially to bring back hand drawn and Mickey in his original self instead of that cute, but ridiculous CGI preschool show. I got the DVD of Mickey, Donald, & Goofy in The Three Musketeers years ago and still have it, and I thought it's a very good and funny feature film. Although, I wish the movie was longer than 68 minutes. And maybe the new movie will be better than Three Musketeers. I wish I know what's the plot of this movie, probably based on the original comics, but not from the early 1930's. And I was hoping that despite of Clarabelle Cow being in love with Goofy, I just hope they give Horace Horsecollar a role. And maybe, if the movie was a hit, maybe Disney will create a new hand drawn tv series of Mickey and friends like Phineas & Ferb and put it on Disney Channel. I heard this new movie will be in theaters either in 2014 or 2015 if it was greenlit. So, in conclusion, I have high hopes for the new Mickey, Donald, & Goofy movie. And hopefully this will be a longer movie than Three Musketeers.

With the recent succes of epic mickey I think we can safely assume we'll see another Mickey short/feature/series
anytime soon. I know it's blasfemy to some but I prefer Donald Duck. Quackkkkkk!

And no, REINIER, it's perfectly fine to prefer Donald Duck. Heck, there are those out there who do prefer Donald over Mickey.
Anyway, I do hope that they at least make a movie featuring Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. I think it's such a shame that these characters are well known, but still haven't been used as much when it comes to movies, theatrical shorts, or TV series these days.
Perhaps there is a reason that Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was made. Introduce the characters to preschool children, and when they are grown up they will be familiar with the characters so that, hopefully, Disney will have the chance to reach out to the entire public, old and young, with at least new theatrical shorts and TV series.
Of course, maybe I'm way off base with my theory. The danger is that I can easily imagine someone watching a new theatrical short and wondering, "So, when are they going to do the hot dog dance?"

You know, that we already know that Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are going to be in this, I wander they're going to use other classic characters. I bet Minnie mouse, Daisy Duck, and Pluto to be in it. And maybe other characters like:
Clarabelle Cow
Horace Horsecollar
Clara Cluck
Chip 'N' Dale
Clarice Chipmunk
Professor Ludwig Von Drake
Huey, Dewey, & Louie
and if possible Scrooge McDuck.

I've read elsewhere that executives feel that a 'Mickey Mouse' feature would be very risky for the company because if it underperformed it would be detrimental for Disney's image (since Mickey is the icon of the company and of its sub-divisions) and it would negatively impact the Mickey Mouse franchise (which is Disney's #1 franchise in sales).
