RIP Mr. Jobs

That just made me sadder. I've been holding off posting in here because I knew the nerd in me was going to make a reactionary post but that article did it for me. This man was a visionary, much in the same way as Walt. He brought computers into our homes with the Apple II, he made life simpler with iOS, he made MP3 players mainstream with the iPod (& iTunes), he's spurred the digital revolution with the iTunes Stores, he brought us the then 'goofy' idea of a touch screen phone with the iPhone, he made smart phones (once only for businessmen and nerds) and apps the standard with the iPhone, he made the once ridiculous tablet a must have with the iPad (it's a bulky, non-portable iPhone, I don't get it), he continued to push the idea of progressively excellent customer service while others continued to make it a thing of the past (anyone who has had to call Apple will know what I'm talking about), he made Apple's developer conferences an event with his master showmanship, and he's continued to create products featuring the signature sleek all-in-one style with such ease that it makes others envious as they try to emulate it. Lastly, Jobs had enough vision to recognize computer animation's endless possibilities and he invested everything he had into a little thing we call Pixar. I've never met the man, for all I know he's not a good person, but there is not arguing his accomplishments. The news of his death is not exaggerated this time and I'm truly saddened by it.

This may all just be bias but I'm on the same Mac I bought 6 years ago and I still have never had an error, pop up or system crash. It runs just as fast and smooth as the day I bought it.

Despite the fact that my wife and her family loves Apple, I'm more of a PC kind of guy. That said, I can respect the vision Mr. Jobs had for Apple. Even more so for me, I will always remeber him as the man who created Pixar and then defended it against Disney.

Guys like Lassiter and Catmull may have made Pixar what it is today thanks to all those great films we all love to watch, but not a single one of them could have happend without Steve Jobs and his investment and beliving in Pixar. He made it possible for Catmull, Lassiter and the gang to have fun and be themselves. Thanks Steve!

I know that this is somewhat belated, but I send my condolences to Steve Jobs' friends, family and colleagues. Say what you like about the man, but the company he steered became something rather visionary and overall consistently competent. I have a MacBook that I bought in 2008, and it works far better compared to how my old desktop PC worked three years into its tenure. I hope that the Apple corporation's output remains strong for a good while despite its leader's death.

Another thing that has struck my mind since his death; wasn't Steve Jobs one of Disney's biggest shareholders? Does anybody know whether his death is going to have a huge impact on the Disney company?

His death was tragic but not unexpected.

I'm an apple fan (though not a 'religious' devotee) and a convinced macintosh-user ever since I began to use a home computer.

Well, I believe in an afterlife in which we have all the time to discover and do new things and I wanted to write down something other than 'r.i.p'. Sorry if this confused or shocked you!

Furthermore, I'm simply baffled that so many forum members here have shown Smileys. "Oh, boo hoo, wah wah wah, somebody I never met in person who had virtually nothing to do with my life died...oh I'm so sad! Please hold me!" I hope his family and friends are coping well, but some of the people here need to pull themselves together; either that, or they need to stop the flow of those irksome crocodile tears.

Be prepared to see a whole flood of tears from me the day Bob passes away --somebody whom I never met in person. Admittedly, a musician/poet has a different impact than an entrepeneur, but it's still the same principle...

I just wonder how Pixar would have been without him.
