I feel the platinum/diamond line has been a joke from the release of Lion King on DVD in 2003. The menus on disc 2 were great looking, but the content wasn't really much.

I just never understood the selection of the pics. That said, the line has made available some pretty impressive restorations of the old classics. Now dumbo looks even crisper than a film like The rescuers down under.

Ok, I'll try to keep to the subject here. If the Collector's Edtion of Atlantis were used as a standard for the diamon editions (though the film itself will never be part of the line - that said, it's a pretty good and underrated movie I think), it would be difficult to disappoint any fans.

If you watch the Atlantis documentary from the index list rather than navigating the menus, it's about 2 hours long. And it's informative and well made. And you got that video commentary.

What did the US edition look like? The uk edition come in a nice looking two-part cardboard sleeve. Just the fact that it was specially designed for that movie makes it seem more precious.

Also, it was the first DVD I ever bought. It's been downhill ever since from there ;)

Anyone ever dreamed of a 2 hour documentary about Lion King? Or Hunchback?
