It's just the Original Soundtrack that's been available for the last 16 years. So it's all the songs, a few tracks of the score, and some covers by Elton John. I never had the soundtrack so I figured I might as well have it in my music collection.DisneyJedi wrote:So the soundtrack.... does it include all the vocal songs AND the entire score? Or just a few tracks of the score?Uncle Remus wrote:So I bought The Lion King 3D Combo Pack today. I went to Target and got the Combo Pack that comes with the Original Soundtrack (all the songs and score) included in the Digital Copy. I got a price match with Toys r Us ($27.99) and used the $5 coupon from online. My final price was $22.99 not including tax. But when you compare the lowest final price of the regular Blu-Ray-DVD combo pack ($14.99) to what I paid, you're basically getting the 3D Blu-Ray disc, Digital Copy, and soundtrack for $8 more. That's a great deal. And I think I read somewhere that the online coupon is the same as the Subway coupon despite the online coupon claiming that it can only be used for the 4-disc combo pack. Could someone clarify if this is correct?

Q: Can you talk about the next hand-drawn film from Disney, or the general future of hand-drawn animation at the studio?
A: Too early to talk about anything specific except to say that there are amazing artists at Disney and Pixar who have lots in store for the audience be it with a pencil, a puppet or a pixel.

Just so everyone else knows in case they want to take advantage of this deal. I was able to got both The Lion King 3D and Beauty and the Beast 3D for $40.47 today at Best Buy.
First, I had already paid $5.25 when I got the Viva Metal packaging. (I only paid $5.25 because there was a sale on all movies and music going on) If you paid the $7.50 for the metal packaging you'll get to pay even less!!!
Second, for a limited time they have a $8 off special if you pick up any edition of The Lion King and either African Cats on Blu or DVD or the new 5-disc Beauty and the Beast 3D at the same time.
Third, I had the $5 off DMR coupons for each title.
The subtotal came up to around $37 and after tax was added I only paid $40.47! I'd assume that if I had paid the original $7.50 for the metal case, It would have been more around $38 total.
Happy Shopping everyone!

AKA: No response from them yet, but mine shipped around 1:30 PM today and is scheduled to be delivered by tomorrow (Oct. 5). I'll be sure to let you know what they say when/if they get back to me.
singerguy04: How do you do the iron pack rebate thing? My local Best Buy had sold out of them, so I ordered one off Best Buy's web site. I still have it sealed but the packaging didn't come with a receipt. When you buy the Lion King Blu-ray, do you just show the iron pack and get a discount?

I had to bring the receipt. You had to have gotten some kind of receipt when it was shipped to you. If you don't have it anymore you wont get the money off when you try to pick it up.monorail91 wrote: singerguy04: How do you do the iron pack rebate thing? Could you possibly post a picture of the poster? I told my mom to pick up the 3D combo pack at Toys R Us and I told her it came with a free poster (if they still have some); but since I'm at college I won't be able to actually see what it looks like. Thanks if you can!Maerj wrote:Got the 3D set at Toys R Us for $22. The poster is pretty cool, a big 3D lenticular one.

Thanks! Yeah, I finally got a shipping confirmation at 6:02 pm (PDT). Best Buy accepted the $5 coupon, which I combined with the $7.50 Iron Pack pre-order, so my total was $8.30. I miss the good old days of only paying $3.30 for a new release ($10 coupons) and those were 3-disc sets with a massive amount of NEW supplemental material.
Something worth noting, the missing clouds are in The Lion King: A Memoir featurette too. Don Hann had final say on both the movie's transfer and this bonus feature, so how did he miss that twice? Also during this featurette, when Andreas Deja says the movie went from being B to A+, does anyone else's image have a digital spaz attack (it pixilates)?

I'm reading Luke's review and this caught my eye in the "What's Missing?" section:
.
So, could this be the last time we get to see the movie on some physical home media format? I really, really hope the industry doesn't go into full-on streaming or downloadThe missed opportunities are all the more disappointing because there is no chance of a better edition coming anytime soon. Disney will only release a title as popular as this an event. It will probably be another eight years until a new set, assuming that Disney is still selling movies on disc then.

I've had to come to terms with the fact that the Platinum Editions are probably the best Disney home video releases we're going to get, special features-wise. Time to bust open the piggy bank and buy out-of-print DVDs.

AKA: FABULOUS news!
So my (and I assume your) Lion King trilogy set will be arriving after the expected date. I sent an e-mail to Amazon expressing my frustrating, as a paying Amazon Prime customer, and they said:
"To compensate the delay caused I've issued you a $10.00 promotional certificate, which you can use the next time you order an item shipped and sold by Amazon.com. You'll see your available promotional balance at checkout--this amount will be applied to your next order automatically without entering a claim code."
How about that!!! If you haven't yet, def contact Amazon and see if you can get it too!

Oh wow, I haven't had the time to look at all the bonus features yet but seriously Disney, you didn't even include the original trailers? Dropping original music videos, trailers, publicity galleries, and throwing what little bonus features you did have on that nightmare of an OS you call Virtual Vault is just pathetic (speaking of Virtual Vault, I'm having the same problem starting it up as Luke did and all I'm getting is a black screen - so without Virtual Vault running properly, the extras are even more pathetic). Not to mention they put an important supplement like the original September 1992 story outline exclusively on the iPad app (what about people who don't have any idevices?), they have the missing clouds in the actual feature presentation and it begins to seem like they didn't give it their all, did they?
Having watched both "Pride of The Lion King" and "The Lion King: A Memoir - Don Hahn", I felt like they didn't even begin to touch on certain things (many voice actors were not even mentioned) and that WAY too much time was spent talking about the Broadway show. Color me disappointed and worried what they'll cut on Lilo & Stitch's Blu-ray release (I never got the Special Edition DVD). I'm definitely going to be holding onto my Aladdin Platinum Edition DVD, as it has wonderful supplements and I have a feeling that none of them will make it (atleast, not without the Virtual Vault monstrosity).
Still, the menu is nicely organized, attractively designed and quick loading.

I'm impressed with 3 LK films' menus, especialy Lion King's, it's way bet'ter than the platinum's menu and that semi hideous Zazu lol. Displayin clips from the film against Pride Rock/ Elephant Graveyard was a fantasic idea.
Restoration for all 3 were top notch, yet it was hard to tell apart picture quality from 1.5's blu/2004 Edition, both verisons of 1.5's prestentation looked virtualy the same to me, Simba's Pride's Picture quality vastly improved since it's 2003/4 (I forgot which year it was re-released) release. Truely enjoyed watchin all 3 films again.
Does anybody wish that Simba's Pride was well animated like 1.5????, 1.5 had great DTV animation (in my opinon) and I think Simba's Pride could've been at 1.5's animation level instead of havin a garage (low) budget
For those who used the Digi copy, we lose "Morn Report" which's kinda understandable, but I found that song enjoyable. Still think Chow Down would've been a good henchmen song for the Hyenas

It's funny you say that. I was just talking to my dad about it after we saw the 3D version in theaters, how we were glad Morning Report was cut, since IMO it's the worst of the new songs added for the musical. I'm honestly not wild about any of the new ones written by Elton John & Tim Rice (which is weird because I ADORE the original songs, for the movie), but I do love the songs incorporated from "Rhythm of the Pride Lands", especially Endless Night or Shadowland.Mason_Ireton wrote: For those who used the Digi copy, we lose "Morn Report" which's kinda understandable, but I found that song enjoyable. I think it'd be cool if Disney animated the additional songs in the musical, those would be interesting to see as bonus features. Not to incorporate into the movie itself though.

Well, if it makes you feel better (probably not), they didn't include the original trailers on the PE DVD.jpanimation wrote:Oh wow, I haven't had the time to look at all the bonus features yet but seriously Disney, you didn't even include the original trailers? I actually enjoyed "Pride of The Lion King". I was worrying that it could be bad, considering that I had read some mediocre reviews for it. But it was more interesting and satisfying than I expected. Not as good as "Beyond Beauty" from "Beauty and the Beast" last year, but still pretty good.jpanimation wrote: Having watched both "Pride of The Lion King" and "The Lion King: A Memoir - Don Hahn", I felt like they didn't even begin to touch on certain things (many voice actors were not even mentioned) and that WAY too much time was spent talking about the Broadway show.
And actually, I felt that they talked more about the movie than the Broadway show. Although I do think the Broadway segment should been a documentary of its own.
Otherwise, I was dissapointed by the "The Lion King: A Memoir - Don Hahn". The documentary was interesting by its own merits, but I would have prefered an original documentary.
I agree on that one. It reminded me of the menu of "The Jungle Book" dvd, where we are transported into different scenes of the movie.Still, the menu is nicely organized, attractively designed and quick loading.
