Sorry but its not always part of the experience. not to same extent every time. I pretty much see family films exclusively in theaters, I never have too many complaints.The_Iceflash wrote:Regarding theater disruptions, little kids making disruptions (not crying infants) i.e talking loud, etc doesn't bother me when it's a family/kids' film they are seeing. Why would I get upset about kids making noise while watching Winnie the Pooh? If it's a family film I'm at the theater's watching, why be so serious about the noise? It's part of the experience like another poster already said.
So true - well said. It definitely is part of the "experience" for me as well.The_Iceflash wrote:Regarding theater disruptions, little kids making disruptions (not crying infants) i.e talking loud, etc doesn't bother me when it's a family/kids' film they are seeing. Yes, same here! I am very happy about that. I am so skipping the Trilogy!TheSequelOfDisney wrote:Thanks so much for letting us know! There is no way I'm buying that trilogy pack after seeing how it was packaged.DisneyChris wrote:The insert confirms that the sequels will receive individual releases in 2012.

I kind of had a feeling Disney was going to do that. But it is ok because I can wait for the other two to come out. I am happy with the 2-Disc DVD's I have. If I want to watch Part 11 and 1/2 I can just pop in the DVD for now lol.

Another thank you. I was going to buy the trilogy but not that horrid box set. I'll live with just Lion King until 2012 (sold off my dvds) & then get the sequels.DisneyChris wrote: The insert confirms that the sequels will receive individual releases in 2012.

You're welcome everyone!

The Blu-ray guide simply states that Cinderella is coming Fall 2012, and there's also a trailer on the disc (same as the French trailer you can find online).Mason_Ireton wrote:whoo hoo yes thanks Chris greatly appricated, did the ad booklet mention info for Cinderella's Diamond?
Yep it's in 3D, same type as the Tangled 3D slip.fatcake wrote:Hey disney chris, is the cover in 3d, like the chrismas carols 3d blu-ray slipcover, or its like mars needs moms? hope its the 3d one

I was a little dissapointed that the Bonus features weren't much to brag about. I really hoped Disney could have thrown in some better Bonus Features.

James Cameron on 3D and 'The Lion King'

The Lion King 3D: In-Depth with DisneyLast weekend’s surprising box office success of Disney's “The Lion King 3D” has re-awakened studios to the power of 3D, James Cameron said Wednesday.
In an interview with TheWrap, Cameron said that whatever doubts there were amongst the two studios re-releasing "Titanic" in 3D have "pretty much evaporated." Paramount and Fox are planning to release Cameron's 3D-converted "Titanic" next April. "Lion King 3D" took in $30.2 million this past weekend.
"They see this potential," the filmmaker said. "All it takes is a little healthy greed. And doubts tend to go away.”

Neuman: For effects, say for example the column of smoke during the climatic fire sequence, it basically has a rounded type of quality. So it didn’t need much more than that general inflation.
But rain was a different matter. The challenge there was that we had the original 2D effects-level artwork that was drawn for the rain, and we needed to take this flat curtain of rain and make it something volumetric. We didn’t want to do what they do sometimes with conversions where they create CG particle effects and add it on top – we wanted everything to really be rooted in the original artwork. So what we did was just took the original rain effects level, and we would duplicate and scale it to create a volume. We’d scale it up and move it closer to camera, for example, and that would allow us to create more of a volume. To vary the depth even more, we had some fractal noise patterns that we would use to modulate the depth of the drawings to break up the individual curtains.
fxg: If you were making a 2D line-art film now and wanted to produce it in stereo, how would you approach it? Would it be a similar process to what you did for The Lion King?
Neuman: It would be. In fact, we had contemplated doing stereo for The Princess and the Frog, and just timing-wise it didn’t work out. But we would have taken largely the same approach. Through the experience we had with Lion King, there’s certain things we’ve learnt that we could do while the film was being animated that would expedite the process. Part of the thing you’re always trying to do is isolate certain parts of characters which aren’t necessary designed that way – you don’t always have a line that’s closed off that would allow you to use keying or paint-based tools to select an area, which you want to do to isolate parts of the character to have control over articulating their limbs, for example.
If you were actually going to be doing this concurrently, it would be quite easy for whoever is animating it to create a self-colored or invisible line that would close off different regions and allow you to isolate them. I would probably take an approach like that, but essentially I would do the same thing because there’s really no other way to get volume into the characters.

Well... it's going to look better because it's 1080p. I mean, I can't say anything about restoration but by default it's going to look better unless they totally botch it, which initial reports suggest is far from the truth.

I thought the only issues people had with the 2003 DVD involved editing/re-animated parts and not necessarily restoration-related issues? (color, etc) They didn't screen cap the waterfall, etc to see so I'm not sure what exactly what you mean by "the screencaps look similar to the DVD job.DisneyJedi wrote:Yeah, I agree. But....
Is it a better restoration job than the 2003 DVD? Because I don't know for sure, and the screencaps look similar to the DVD job.
Most Definately!MJW wrote:Me too, the screenshots are AMAZING. I haven't seen this movie in over a year, I can't wait to see it with new eyes all over again!The_Iceflash wrote: This has me VERY excited!

Agreed. I'd think if there were any restoration issues they would have been noted in that review. They didn't hold back with the Fox and the Hound. I think edits/re-animated parts or no edits/re-animated parts, this is going to be the best home video release of the Lion King to date. One thing I noticed that was missing from the review was mention of the 3D Blu-ray. I thought they would have mentioned that. Anyway, I loved that review and has me extremely excited!SpringHeelJack wrote:Well... it's going to look better because it's 1080p. There's nothing to restore, its a caps film. It just comes down to personal preference at this point because they have made changes that in Disney's eyes makes the film better. Fans wont necisarily agree. I liked the changes made from the VHS to dvd, but cant say I care for the changes in color pallet this time around. Have a look for yourself, all 3 versions (dvd, blu-ray and 3D) and even trailer caps can be seen compared here.DisneyJedi wrote:Is it a better restoration job than the 2003 DVD? While the blu-ray is kind of a no brainer as the best release so far, but the best looking one in my eyes here is the trailer, which doesn't really count as its not technically available. Just like Beauty and the Beast.

I find it a bit hard to believe that if the footage looked like it did at the top right photo that it would have gotten a 5/5 review. I actually have to doubt the accuracy of these colors as they are uploaded screen caps of an uploaded youtube video. We've also learned though past releases not to trust trailers for restoration accuracies.Kyle wrote:There's nothing to restore, its a caps film.
