Redeeming Traits in Your Least Favorite Disney Movies

I think we have enough negativity on this site, so I figured we should look for the proverbial silver lining. This thread has some rules, but it's not a game, so please don't move it. The rules are only here to prevent the discussion from becoming one large argument. Let's see if we can go a whole thread without arguing!!!! great, now I feel like a mother...

Rules:
1. List your least favorite Disney movies, all of them at once or just a couple at a time. They can be animated, live action, mixed, or even just distributed by Disney. Spread the love!

2. Give at least two redeeming qualities regarding each of those movies.

3. Do NOT say why you don't like those movies.

4. Do NOT ask people why they don't like movies on their lists or try to convince them to like those movies. All other on-topic discussion is allowed.

So, I don't have time to do my own right now, but I want something positive to read when I come back. Any takers?

Great topic!

The only one that comes to mind right now is The Rescuers. Not a fan of the movie, but that scene where Medusa points a shotgun at penny and holds her teddy as a hostage is REALLY powerful. Pointing a huge gun at a little girl is VERY intense, and Penny's performance really is really heartfelt and sympathetic.

I was never really a big fan of 101 Dalmations, but after watching the behind-the-scenes features on the Platinum Edition DVD, I gained a new appreciation for it.

I don't like The Rescuers very much either, but I really like Madame Medusa as a villain. And the scene where Penny has to go down to get the Devil's Eye (?) diamond is really creepy/cool.

- Gurgi's metamorphosis from a selfish unlikable character to a hero is neat
- It's delightfully spooky
- Eilonwy's Bauble

The Jungle Book
- Features some fantastic character animation
- Also features one of the best Disney songs ever "Bare Necessities"

Robin Hood
- I LOVE the rooster character
- It is comical at times

Oliver and Co.
- great soundtrack
- neat idea

Chicken Little
- unique twist with the whole alien thing
- Fish out of water is a great character

Dinosaur
- It's an innovative idea
- The dinosaurs look realistic

I like that they captured Taran's personality fairly well.

Some of Eilonwy's lines are rather good.

The Sword in the Stone
Archimedes! He's adorable and funny.

Higgitus Figgitus and That's What Makes the World Go 'Round

The squirrel scene. It always makes me laugh.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire
I really like the premise of this one. It could have been amazing.

Atlantis itelf is cool.

Kida. She doesn't get much to do, but she comes across as likeable, curious, and wise. That's pretty good for not doing very much.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame ~ The music, Tony Jay as Frollo, and the scene for “Heaven’s Light/Hellfire.”

Home On The Range ~ “Little Patch of Heaven" and "Will the Sun Ever Shine Again."

Peter Pan ~ The music and the quality of the animation.

Treasure Planet-- The father/son story between Silver and Jim and the fact that Silver is one of the only redeemable Disney villains.

Oliver & Company-I haven't seen this in a while, but I can remember bits of it. Positive aspects:

1. One good song (the female, pink-wearing dog sings it)
2. Good animation
3. Realistic villain

Pocahontas
- A VERY good soundtrack.
- Ratcliffe is awesome. David Ogden Stiers did an impeccable job with this character. He's also great with Wiggins, especially when you realize Stiers is basically talking to himself.
- Meeko, Flit and Percy are hilarious even if they are really out-of-place with the rest of the movie.

Chicken Little
- The first half hour really isn't that bad.
- LOVE the animation on this one. It feels exactly like a 40's cartoon made into CG. This is why I love Mark Dindal's movies.

The relationship between Jim and John Silver and the fact that John Silver was not really a villain.

Brother Bear:
At least two of the songs by Phil Collins.

The fact this is one of the few animated films that made me bawl my eyes out as a child and again as an adult~

I love! the voices done by Corey Feldman and Keith Mitchell. Esp. when he says "Ima hound dog!"

-The animation is gorgeous to behold.
-One impressive "meeting with those in the afterlife" scene. (though I think for some this is another reason to hate BB)

THE BLACK CAULDRON

- The horned king is a real creep to see.
- Hen-wen is a cute pig.
