I'm truly blessed to be an american, our great anscestors have fought/strived for freedom for the country, it's been thru The Civil War, W.W 1/2, The Roaring 20s, Great Depression among other Victories.

I remember on this date (I was in 8th grade).....I woke up at 4am, turned the news on, the images made me do a double take, 2 highly black/greyish smokes coming from what?, I couldn't see til the reporter annouced the buliding. My sis was on the brink of being medicaly discharged for a blown knee (Knee troubles) and so there was worry for my sis having to be recruited again... The school bus had the raido on thru its route, the class went back/forth of regular day/watchin the news, if I remember correctly, I believe they held a "confrence" to explain what was goin on and introducing us to Terrisom

Many years later I still feel the pain/loss for the victims/the heros who tried to save the people, these heros were not super strong, fast as lighting or powerful...these were normal everyday heros who daily fought fires and crime. To see the rescue teams risking their lives showed true heroism.

Watched the repeat of last season's SNL episode with Tina Fey last night. Got a good laugh out of the "Under the Sea" sketch with bin Laden's corpse floating around.

Dear Disney Enthusiasts,

The 10th Anniversary of 9-11 is here. I believe that the most patriotic values of America are those that include courage, faithfulness, strength, and lawful peace. I know that America will be victorious, and that those true Americans who believe in the aforementioned values will triumph, when all is said and done!

i remember this day. i was in 5th grade and went to school at 8:30 and when i got to class, the tv was on, which was the first sign of something going on. some of the other kids saw the news footage and were like "cool" and i wouldn't blame them. at that age, the news showing something more often seen in movies looks cool, but i understood there must've been something bad about it. i think the teacher turned it off when we were all present and accounted for.

and Mason, why would you count the roaring 20s among the hard times?

I still remember 9-11 as if it were yesterday. I was in 7th grade, and the classroom phone kept ringing, asking for students to pack their stuff as their parents had come to pick them up. For me it was especially scary because my dad was an FDNY Captain at the time, and I was one of the last students to go home.
Thankfully he was alright, but he lost a lot of his men. Plus he had to go back and do cleanup on the site. He retired soon after because he sustained four herniated discs while on the job.

My dad is now the Leading Knight at our local Elks Lodge, and today me and my parents went there for a small 9-11 Commemoration for all the people from Staten Island who were killed.

What's sad is, I remember visiting the twin towers with my sister, and even going all the way up to the rooftop, just two years prior to 9-11.

My heart goes out to all the families and loved ones of all the victims on this day.

I remember by feb 2002, my grandma Marge planed to take me to New York to see Lion King/Beauty and Beast on Broadway, I told her while I was in New York I wanted to see Ground Zero, when i saw it, it was so surreal to me, had a feeling that the souls were still there.

I know it's the day after, but I had to post here. It's surprisingly conflict free. I remember September 11th, too. I can't believe it's already been 10 years. I was in 4th grade and was at home. My family didn't have cable or much TV reception to speak of, so my grandpa called in the morning. He told my mom America was under attack and that the Twin Towers had fallen. We all thought another country must have invaded America. We turned on our little TV and wiggled it around until we could make sense of the fuzzy picture. It was the best reception I ever remember getting on that TV. We sat there watching the re-plays of the Towers falling for a long time. It was one of the most surreal moments in my life.

My heart goes out to all those affected by September 11th. I'm glad that on this one day, all Americans can band together in their support, regardless of political party.
