Criticism and personal attacks are two different things. One can criticize a person's viewpoint without personally attacking them. That line is crossed on more than one occasion. Some may think that behavior is clever, smart, witty, or even funny but it's not to the person being personally attacked and that is not the type environment we should encourage around here. There's nothing in my eyes that justify personal attacking each other.Dr Frankenollie wrote:I wasn't just referring to what happened in the wishing thread, I meant in general; Disney Duster often brings criticism upon himself.Disney's Divinity wrote:I personally believe that the person who issues the insult is at fault, unless the person they're discussing with has already started to throw insults, which hardly applies since Duster hadn't even posted in the "wishing" thread.
Not that I think Goliath should be banned or anything, but, like I said, I thought the decision was fair.

@The_Iceflash: Exactly. I've never stopped people disagreeing, discussing, or criticizing Duster's arguments. I know I've had a lot of those moments with Duster in the past (though I mostly decline and leave others to waste their time doing it these days;
), but there is a line.
Agreed. I don't know where I'd get my news/political info. if Goliath weren't around.PatrickvD wrote:Hope he comes back though....
His rants and comments are funny.

Agreed completely!Super Aurora wrote:LOL at this thread. Is this really necessary? Also Duster was suspended for making a thread that mod said not to make. Had nothing to do with personal attack.
I like Goliath but what he said was a dick move as if he was attempting to provoke for a drama to happen.

Aw, thanks to my defenders! A lot of whom are my friends and I am glad to protect me and I hope I always can do the same for them when I catch their predicaments! I probably don't go on as much to catch all of it, but when I am on!
Especially Disney Divinity is not being hypocritical or putting blind faith in the moderators. Disney's Divinity just thinks the moderators are fair this time. He can have his opinion!

I think it might be the thing he needed to get his act together, as other posters have said yes Goliath is intelligent and makes good points. But he does have a habit of throwing out personal attacks quite frequently and I have seen him warned time and time again for such. He went to far, let the punishment fit the crime. I hope that within time he is permitted to come back and will have learned his lesson. But personal attacks are uncalled for end of story.

I agree with both of them and you!Lazario wrote:I agree with David S., who for some curious reason people seem to be ignoring, and Disney Guru.
Aside: I don't have any respect for one's viewpoints or anything they have to say if they are personally attacking and being rude and arrogant as well. When someone comes off like that in trying to make a point, I can care less what they have to say.
Thanks Lazario. Nice signature, and it's good to see you back!Lazario wrote:I agree with David S., who for some curious reason people seem to be ignoring, and Disney Guru.

The only problem with the latter is that it often comes down to perception, and everybody has to accept that sometimes others will think of themselves the same way. I know some of the nicest people in the world that others think are stuck up.The_Iceflash wrote:Aside: I don't have any respect for one's viewpoints or anything they have to say if they are personally attacking and being rude and arrogant as well.

I like Goliath for his intelligence, but the comment that got him suspended was unacceptable. It was unprovoked, personal, and of no value to the thread.
I hope that Goliath comes back soon, but he has a real Jekyll/Hyde factor, and he needs to stop this if he wishes not to get into any more trouble.
I am both doubtful and hopeful, but if Goliath can come back, and stick to using the wit and wisdom we love him for, I'll be very happy

A 'Jekyll/Hyde factor'? Goliath was only joking, and even if I you deem his joke about Duster as unacceptable, it's hardly like it's a common thing he regularly does.Disney Geek wrote:I hope that Goliath comes back soon, but he has a real Jekyll/Hyde factor, and he needs to stop this if he wishes not to get into any more trouble.

Weeeeellll, since this is a Goliath appreciation thread and not a Goliath deserved to be banned thread, I have to say Goliath's pretty cool most of the time. He is unquestionably smart and well-written
, and he always makes for interesting discussions. We miss you, Goliath.
Dr. Frankenollie, I know you really like Goliath, but saying that Disney Duster should be banned instead is taking it way too far. Simply put, it is rude and unacceptable. It's better to keep thoughts like that to yourself or in PMs.

Could you remind me exactly what Goliath said? In the Wishing thread, did he say something like: "Look how Duster turned out"? Maybe it's just me, but even though that is clearly a joke (and as Golaith doesn't like Duster it's probably not what I'm going to say) but I feel that could be interpreted as a compliment, saying that the Disney message helped Duster grow up into a good person.Disney Geek wrote:^ ^ ^
How would you like it if something of that nature was said about you?
And as I can at least interpret it as something that isn't negative, I don't think it was that bad. It was only a little joke, and if something like that was said to me, I'd be irked but not extremely upset or angry, and I wouldn't care if they were suspended or not, only if they were willing to apologise. I'm not sure whether Goliath will apologise or not, but that all demands on the exact meaning of his words.
I've agreed with Duster a few times and his resilience in the Disney Essence debate is fairly impressive, but nonetheless he often displays a lack of regard for logic, fairness, sense and evidence, and on several threads wastes bandwidth by complaining that it looks too 'un-Disney-ish' (or something like that). If he continues in the manner he's been in for I'm sure has been quite a few years, then he should at least be suspended again.Linden wrote:Dr. Frankenollie, I know you really like Goliath, but saying that Disney Duster should be banned instead is taking it way too far.
